I've really been getting into scientology.

The more I learn about L. Ron Hubbard, the more I realize he was more than just a man.

Noone ever saw him eat anything.

I wonder if he has ever eaten at the restaurant of theirs beside the Scientology place on Yonge St?(Brothers I think it was called)
I ate there about 15 years ago and have never been right in the head since. Or was I before... :puke:

I think he really is dead though because I'm sure we would have heard from him after that Battlefield Earth movie came out.

Scientology is not a dogmatic religion in which one is asked to believe anything on faith. An individual discovers for himself that Scientology works by applying its principles and observing or experiencing the results.

Now I know why Katie Holmes is so eager to join Scientology.

'People had breakdowns quite often,' said Perry Chapdelaine, a Sears Roebuck clerk from Mason City, Iowa, who was a student at Elizabeth. 'It was always hushed up before anyone found out about it. It happened to a guy on my course, a chemical engineer. They wanted to get him out of the school and I volunteered to stay with him in an adjoining building. He never slept or ate and was in a terrible state, no one could do anything with him and in the end they took him off to an asylum.'
- Russell Miller from an interview with Perry Chapdelaine, Nashville, 25 April 1986

are you serious puff? cuz i've actually recently gotten into scientology myself. have you taken any courses yet?

so far i fail to see any reason while scientology is bad and why some people like to bash on it so much. it has had an odd history i must admit though. just the subject and history of scientology is fascinating in itself.

You end up putting lots and lots and lots of money into it. There's courses upon course upon courses to take, leading you higher and higher and higher up a a pyramid of... something. Just the fact a religion requires you to pay cash to go anywhere with it, goes against many of the most fundamental principals you find in other religions.

I believe there was a 60 Minute episode done on it that, while in itself not a final judgment in any way upon scientology, gives a good overview of scientology and what type of criticisms are landed on it.

You can find lots of information against scientology on websites of course, there's more a few of them. This one came up first and seems pretty clear minded:

I've always held the believe that the Scientology Church has some foul and incriminating dirt on it's most famous supporters - perhaps they got their hands on some sort of Tom Cruise gay porn video, or evidence of some serious Travolta drug abuse or something.

I don't think that would be worth more than a couple dollars.

now if it was Hasselhoff drug abuse, it'd be worth millions.

What if his particular drug habit trancends the mundane?
He could be eating dried adrenal glands taken from Peruvian babies - you never can tell with these famous rich people.

this bloody french student has to go. been here for weeks and he still can't make coffee. it's instant coffee, how fucking hard can it be?

i've stood in the kitchen watching him make the stuff and he doesn't use any non-standard ingredients, like pissing in the cup or something - but the coffee still tastes terrible. 2 spoons of coffee granules, 2 spoons of sugar, hot water. how can anyone get that wrong?

edit: scientology, cobblers.

Scientology  L. Ron Hubbard created it as a bar bet between himself and two other sci-fi writers IIRC.
