I'll be formating my pc soon and putting in a new extra hd . I want to put the os on the old drive again. But i was wondering if would notice a reasonable increase in performance should i put it on the new drive or if it isn't all that important. The drives are about 4 years apart.

Well what models are the two drives. If one has a faster drive, as in 7,200 instead of 5,400 or a larger cache as in 8MB instead of 2MB then it would be better to put the Os on the one that is faster and more cache

Ah, k that would be the new drive then. 8mb cache 7200 rpm. The old one is 5400 rpm. Thanks, knew it would be simple.

Yup, Windows should run better on the 7,200 RPM drive.
