Discovered 'Mambo CMS' this morning, installed it in a few mins, and have spent about 1 hour getting up to speed with how it works. Check out the results above.

The system is awesome. Using this, I don't need to worry about fucking around with a news/gallery/user system for my site, now all I have to do is build the rest of the project in the form of a mambo module.

Very slick for an entirely PHP/MySQL, open source piece of software.
If you have a PHP/MySQL enabled webhost, then you can grab a copy from here: http://www.mamboserver.com/
All you have to do is upload it to your site via FTP, it does the rest for you.

xoops is pretty good as well.

Does all the installation by itself, very easy to use, lots of plug-ins ('modules')

Edit:
oh yeah and completely OS

Nice, I'll check that out later. Re-formatting my server atm, I've still yet to find a non-shit FTP server other than BPFTP. Anyone know any?

zFTP Server is great for low-maintenance moderate use. Windows platform though, I use it on my lappy486.

For a linux box... I'm not in a good position to suggest anything :(

Try NCFTP. Running it right now (limited to 3 users, so it's free) just for fun. It's kind of handy when someone wants to upload something to me.

By the same logic, I may as well go back to programming everything in binary.

This does what I need and it saves me time. I'll dip into the PHP to convert the pieces I need over time.

Also, the whole thing is web-based. Up to now, I've been using Notepad++ to create my own web-based administration tools, and using them. This isn't any different.

It's not like I'm using Frontpage or some shit like that :icon19:

Yea and 16 hours after you have your front page done ill have the site done, be paid and started on the next one.

Good link Foo, question is, do you have to have the advertisment all over your site? I mean your logo is a pimp for them, which is, well not what i would want.

hehe yeah, I'm just not finished yet.

I only get an hour or two to work on it a week and that's as far as I've got. With a bit more work, I'll set up a fresh site design. After that, load it with content, and after that work on customising the CMS.
