Question about memory slots

Does it matter where the Ram is at in the mobo? I have 4 slots that hold up to 4gb, they a labeled DIMM1-4:
1 and 3 are the same color Blue
and 2 and 4 are Purple.. I have 1 gb of ram in their now, will I see a Difference if I move them to 1 and 3?
My mother board is a ABIT IC7 and the ram is PC3200

um..
Ok, if you want dual channel, you need 1 and 3 or 2 and 4.. if your not running them in 1 and 3 or 2 and 4, switch them..
so yes, it makes a difference..

so you didn't read the manual?
From the pages of my IC7 Manual:
To reach the performance of Dual Channel DDR, the following rules must be obeyed:
* When installing TWO DIMM modules: Install DIMM modules of hte same type and size for slots [DIMM1]+[DIMM3] or slots [DIMM2]+[DIMM4].
* When installing FOUR DIMM modules: Install DIMM modules of the same type and size for slots [DIMM1]+[DIMM3] and slots [DIMM2]+[DIMM4].
there is no difference between using 1+3 or 2+4
the only speed difference you'll see is if you're using invalid combinations, like 1+2 or 3+4 or 1+4.
