Quake3World

Hi folks - would appreciate any help on this - thanks for looking!

I've been trying to install the latest point release (1.32) for OSX (tiger) but not having very much luck. The point release is installed in my Applications folder, I've copied the pak0.pk3 file from my retail CD into the baseq3 folder of the point release. When I try to click on the Quake 3 icon (point release folder), it tells me that I have to select the installation directory for Quake 3 ("not any directory inside of it -- the installation directory itself"). If I merely click on the retail installation (old version and on Macintosh HD, i.e NOT the point release), it just loads the old version.

Can anyone give me any pointers as to what I'm doing incorrectly?

Try selecting any of these directories:

/Applications/Quake3
/Applications/Quake3/baseq3
~/Library/Application Support/Quake3
~/Library/Application Support/Quake3/baseq3

I forget which one is the "retail" directory, but I remember selecting one of them got the game to work properly.

I am new for this game. I tried on my friend Windos, and now I want to install it on mine.

I have downloaded Quake3 Demo, and 1.32 patch from original site. First, I installed demo and then 1.32 patch. I follow all the steps here

but then when it asks me for retail installation, it doesn't let me go through. As soon as I choose one from installed demo, it shows the same window ( select retail installation) or quit.

Any suggestions?

u cant run the update patch from the demo dude.

The patch wont update the demo. You need the full version on CD for that.
