I accidently posted this in the rants and raves, so im re-posting it in here... please help!


I am trying to run an Instaunlagged server with my Quake III arena, and when people try to connect, only one out of every 10 make it in (randomly I guess) and all of the others say "Unpure Client Detected, Invalid .PK3 Files Referenced"....

Is my version of quake III out of date? (i dont know which version it is) but this is hosted off my server in my house...

Is there an update i can get that most people have so they can all connect to my server? thanks!

pull up your console and check in the bottom right, what number does it say?

you know the peeps trying to connect to you or are they random from the internet?

It's because you have files that are required by people to play on your server. So, either the few who connect already had the files, or they autodownloaded it upon entering your server.

Point Release 1.32 is the latest patch. If you don't have it, get it, and make sure you say "yes" to installing Punkbuster along with the patch, as it's necessary to play on most 1.32 servers. Keep in mind, you cannot play on servers that run any other version, because they run on different protocols.

This is a common problem with IU. Which version are you using (1.1 or one of the 1.2 betas)?

try turning on

allow downloads in the options menu

see if that fixes it

Ok i got the newest patch, but i believe i have instaunlagged 1.1 where could i get 1.2? should I ?

They aren't "officially" available (because they're betas) but you can download them off most servers if you set cl_allowdownload to 1. Alternatively, PM me your mail address and I'll mail them to you.
