Hey, i'd just like to start off saying thanks for all the help that i've found so far on these forums, it was very convienent for me, and I found the DL'ds I needed quickly.

Ok, I went into q3 and looked and found around 5 servers that i woudl like to join, but everytime I tried to join them, i didnt have the map, Could you guys/gals, tell me where I may be able to find the more popular maps and where I can dl non popular ones.

try googling the name of the map, this works about 98% of the time. or post the name of the map here and see if any1 already has it.

You also probably need to set q3 to autodownload. In your menu go to setup then game options. At the bottom of that list is the autodownload option. Set it to on.

Here you can find pretty much just about any map you could need.

Typing /cl_allowdownload 1 in the console does the same thing. Be warned that autodownloading is usually very slow.

Now that I try to go into a server, it says that I dont ahve the latest version of punkbuster, and I get kicked, where do i get that?


Also: I cant find freeze tag in the server list anymore, how come? I used to be able to b4 i DL'd the updates and all.

Get <u>pbweb</u>, it updates punkbuster. Place it in your /Quake III Arena/pb folder and run it from there.

Not sure about the freeze tag thing.

Get Pbweb.exe and put it in "C...Program Files\Quake III Arena\pb" directory. Then run it and it should automatically update.

And you might wanna get The All-Seeing Eye because the server browser in Quake 3 is horrible sometimes it doesn't load any servers...it just really sucks. Besides, with ASE you can see servers for every game, and you can filter certain maps, mods and all that stuff.

That's because everyone plays Ultra Freeze Tag (ufreeze) these days. Kick ass mod btw: unlagged netcode, support for multi-view and server-side demos, promode skins and physics (if you want 'em), etc.

but it's sooo much quicker to google it, it's sick.

but if you need to go take a sh*t, then a shower, then grab a bite to eat at Sonic and change your tire cuz you got a flat on the way home, then yeah, your map will be downloaded by then.

Thanks all, i have 2 more questions:

1. When I open my game I get an error message (durring the blue screen part). it says: User interface is Version 4, expected 3. What do I do?

each mode has its own fav map
Freezetag,TDM,OSPCTF,RA3,Duel
unless you mean FFA,that is,
if anyone still plays FFA

1v1: pro-q3dm6, ztn3tourney1, pro-q3tourney4, hub3aeroq3
TDM: q3dm6, q3dm14, ospdm5, cpm4
CTF: Threewave Map Packs
RA3: ra3map1, ra3map11

By no means the only played maps, merely a short list of some of the more popular ones.

yup ztn map with a freind is ubber fun and a good way to get good.
