.. is described as the hardest official Doom map ever made. It's map 32 of Final Doom (Plutonia Experiment).
just played it this weekend, i cant believe i never did. i was bored and opened up zdoom and warped to map31 of Plutonia (CyberDen) just for the heck of it. no ammo or weapons or whatsoever. i made it and got teleported to 'Go 2 It'.
jesus fuck what a blast

the hard part about this map isnt the kabillion enemies (the weakest being mancubi) really, its the fact that everytime you do something in part A, part B releases 5 or 10 Archviles who will resurrect like theres no tomorrow

that and the 18 cyberdemons you encounter
i made it in 32 mins. par time: 30 seconds :icon19:
anyways. if you never played this map, go 2 it already. i did it without cheating myself some weapons, so dont you dare

.
just wanted to share

If you want to see something awesome, download the world record speedrun of it.
You can find it at the COMPET-N website. If you're not on Windows 98 9so you can use Doom2.exe), you'll need prBoom to playback the demo.

speed run == reaching the end of the map? or get 3x 100% in the least amount of time ?

Speed run == completing the map/entire game as fast as possible. Wasn't D2 done in just over twelve minutes?

aw
i prefer 100%s over par time

although the entire game might be fun to watch once

Well, you can probably find both. There are all kinds of categories at COMPET-N.
As for DOOM II in 12 minutes, there are a couple of catches. Well, the first thing is it's like 14 minutes or something.

But other than that, it's tool-assisted. The guy that did it (Andrey Buhko [not to be confused with Larua "BahdKo" Herrmann]) was using tools to aid him. Like, he could record this little segement 500 times until he got it right, etc. So it was done over a period of days. It wasn't real-time.
Now, that said, it's pretty entertaining, still.

Oh, and it's only Ultra Violence, not Nightmare. He has a tool-assisted nightmare run, but it's slower and less entertaining than his tool assisted UV run.
The current legitimate speedrun record for DOOM II on Nightmare is 29:56 and was set just in October if I remember correctly.

Editing speed runs is so gay.

Yeah. The guy actually _does_ everything you see, but it's the product of hundreds of attempts per, you know, moment, or whatever. It's not done in a single, clean run.
If you want the real stuff, go to COMPET-N.
