unix cdrom drive error message question

It suddenly happened.
This log was got by ejecting on my unix.
This is not actually a scsi drive.
Orange signal is blinking around the tray.
The drive vivrates for a few secs after power on or closing the tray, then blinking.
Any clue?

hmm, looks like your drive's hit the wall, might try hooking another up if you've got a spare. If we're talking proprietary unix, such as AIX/HPUX then I'm sure you already know to use an identical hardware replacement.
cdroms are viewed as scsi devices by most flavors of unix/linux that I've played with so that's a normal message.

on second thought, are you trying to burn an iso or data cd? it sounds suspiciously like maybe a buffer underrun or similar error due to a crappy disc.

Thank you pants for your answer.
I know ide(?) connection is treated as scsi. :icon26:

Drive no longer recognizes media, hence no possibility of burning problem.

BTW just replaced this crap drive with old vanilla cd-rom.
It was a hard decision but hey, lol.
