Quake3World

Quake has worked fine, until some near time, that I'm unsure of. Now, when I'm installing quake 3 arena, i get an error, saying that pak0.pk3 is corrupt, and cannot be installed, at that point, the installation quits as its current point, assuming it installed correctly, but its fake files.
I need to know where I can get a new pak0.pk3 file if possible?

As well, I cannot load Default.cfg

copy pak0.pk3 manually from your cdrom drive to your quake3's baseq3 folder.
if that fails clean the cd.
if your cd is defective then your pretty much screwed unless you just bought it and may be able to return it but that does not appear to be the case.

you cannot load default.cfg because it's in pak0.pk3

as you may know we cannot tell you where to get pak0.pk3 on the net

My bad, I wasnt aware of the inability to located a file, for say it would be considered 'warez'
In any case, I can play q3a whilst the CD is in, and it is not installed. I can play it by "exploring" the folder.
When i try to copy the pak0.pk3 file, i get this;

-try safe mode for the hell of it or even
command prompt then type as an example because i don't know where the files reside.

CRC errors usually mean the CD is scrathed or damaged, also shut down microsoft anti spyware if you have it, when you try to install it.

if you have the original cd then youre free to obtain a copy of it from anywhere you like.. we just cannot tell you where, as it's a violation of the AUP

Its still copyrighted material so no, he isn't legally entitled to grab a copy from any source he chooses.

Doest matter anyhow. I got it working, because I burned back-up copies of all my games, before I bought a CD scratch removal device. In any case, I have all my files correct.

bollocks. the license agreement allows you one alternate copy for personal use - there's no difference between owning a duplicate of your own CD because you own it, and owning a duplicate of your mate's cd. you own the original and youre allowed one copy, regardless of where it comes from

That's a very grey area and you know it. Making a backup of the media you purchased is what is legal and allowed, not downloading it from wherever online.
