A friend of mine is building a K24A2 EG Civic (CRV block and RSX-S head/transmission) and yesterday I took a couple pics of the process of the engine assembly.

the k24a block (brand new):

the block with the bottom half of it on:

the transmission:

the $535 CAD Snap-on torque wrench:

fitting the things that measure how much pression the thing that holds the crankshaft applies onto it:
Image

installing the bearings:
Image

torquing the bolts:

the crankshaft:

the stuff securing the crankshaft to the block:
Image

$1000 USD rods and $500 USD pistons:

heating the pistons to fit in the rods:

the rods connected to the pistons:

While installing the pistons into the block he forgot to offset the piston rings, so when he was putting them back in again, on the 4th piston the ring slipped out of the thing that compresses them and he broke it... So now he has to order a new set of rings express from the US because this is holding up his whole project.

It was really interesting being there though, I learned a lot :icon14:

the car the engine is going in:

actually the K series of blocks from honda are Actually quite Redundent.... they can put up with alot of boost and etc, Very simular to the Bseries blocks.

He's not going to boost it, he's going for a very fast all motor. As soon as the engine is dropped into the Civic, he expects to run 13 flat on slicks.

A Civic is a better car performance wise since it's a lot lighter than an Integra or an RSX. An RSX-S with a K24 block and I/H/E runs 13.5 (coming from someone who owns one on http://www.montrealracing.com/forums ).

Is he actually going to drag race it, or he just wants a street car that accelerates quickly?

I think Ive become old and boring, if i had enough money to get a shitty car and put nice stuff in it, I wouldnt bother, I would get something that is nice as standard and costs a little more.

Yes he will actually drag race it. It's a street car, but he'll take it to the drag strip. This is only the beginning, next summer it's gonna be a lot sicker.

I dont think he is leaving, he is just a greedy cunt after more money,

I'm kinda suprised Fergie hasnt kicked his ass, but Keane did the same a while back, and to be honest I can understand, if Man Utd want to win major trophies they need world class players, who require more money every week than I get in 1 yr...bastards.

Im on MSN now and then, PM me your details and I shall add you.

Im curious why people drag race cars like that, Im sure there are regulations and shit, but why not get a plastic kit car that weighs half as much and stick a similar engine in that?

something like this :icon25:

thats about 180bhp (standard engine) sequential shift and about 5/600kg

Im sure that would fuck any civic hard in the ass.

Because that wouldn't be a street legal car.

That's just my opinion though.

Saying certain engines suck is like saying certain programming languages suck. It's all about picking the right tool for the job.
