Hi

I have a 120g drive with 3 seperate partions. One is for XP and the other 2 are for games or storage.

When I set the drive up I was told I'd be safe with just 6 gigs for XP, which I was for a while. However now I keep running into low disk space problems.

I have plenty of space on my game and storage partitions but not on my XP partition. Is there any way, short of wipeing the Drive competly, to take space from one partion and give it to my XP partition?

thanks in advance for any help :)

Yes but it is risky and you always risk losing all of your data.

What I would recommend is uninstalling a lot of your programs and especially games (did you really install them all to other drives?), then re-installing them but directing the installation to the other partitions instead of to C:\

This should dramatically cut down on the space used on C:\

My C is about 20Gb. Take away games and programs and that leaves 3Gb. Take away the swap file and that's about 1.8Gb. Take away my temporary internet files and documents and that's around 1Gb.

Oh you can also redirect your 'my documents' folder to another drive by right clicking on it and finding the 'move' option. Lots of space to be saved there.

thanx Foo

I'm moveing "my Documents" to another drive as you suggested. I had no idea I could do that, lol.

I dont have anything extra on my XP drive so I think moving "my documents" is about the best I can hope for atm.

Thanx again

PartitionMagic resizes partitions.

Have you cleaned out your temporary internet files and other temp files? If you haven't set your temp internet files to only use a small amount of space, you should. I have mine set to empty out on exit and only to use 40 mb of space.

To do so in Internet Explorer.

Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/ (scroll all the way down and it will be towards the bottom.) Check Emtpy blah blah blah when you close IE. Of course it want say that, but you'll know when you've found it.

Then go back to your General Tab and click settings, in the middle of the page...you can change whatever you need there.

If you didn't know how anyway. :)
