I was wondering if anyone has or had these problems and what they did to fix them if it was possible to:

• 5.1 works flawlessly when testing it out using the surround mixer (I only installed it to test it out to see if it was working at all as I don't have any other use for the crap that comes with it), but when it comes to watching a DVD using WinDVD (which supposedly supports 5.1 without a plugin) or playing any game I only get the 4 speakers working.
  
  When I run Half-Life 2 there's no sound whatsoever unless I set the card into 2 speaker mode.

Hardware:

Asus A7V8X mobo
1GB PC-2700 RAM
Sound Blaster Live! (obviously) OEM edition

That's all the info I can give because I'm absolutely stumped. If someone helps me fix this I'll kiss them on the cock.

Latest drivers? In device manager/sound controllers, is it set at 5.1 in speaker setup?

Edit: Yeah the driver thing worked, I've not formatted in about 2 years and I'm sure I've rolled back because of the later drivers causing problems. I installed them before you you replied but I didn't check, lol.

I'm guessing you are telling the game to play in 5.1 mode?
