So I think I got a kid fired at Burger King

I haven't eaten at that shithole in years, but had the unfortunate task of doing so tonight. I watched an employee go into the restroom wearing his plastic gloves, come out of the restroom wearing the same plastic gloves, and immediately return to working on food.

I managed to get the entire place's attention, including the manager and the 10 people in line for the 1 fucking register the place had running, while pointing the little greasy bastard out and explaining what he did to everyone. He actually had pretty much all the folks there staring at him while I said it. Turned very red beneath the layer of fry grease and sweat that he was covered in.

I doubt most of the fatties eating there cared, but about 6 folks walked out of the line and left.
For some reason people seem to think that wearing gloves means that everything is OK. I told the bitch making my sandwich at subway once that she shouldn't handle money and then go on to make a sandwhich, to which she replied "I'm wearing gloves."

This was a good reminder why I don't eat fast food much. (however to be fair I am sure food preparers in 'nice' places can be just as disgusting...)

I once was at a a smoked meat restaurant .
I went in the rest room to just wash my hands.
There came a guy wearing a kind of a table cloth around his waist.
Pissed and went out without washing his hands.
I went to the counter to order and he was the one slicing the meat.

They reputated to have the best smoked meat in town.

i work in a kitchen, and me or any of the other kitchen staff don't wash my hands after using the bathroom in the bathroom, because it's so much easier to wash your hands in the kitchen

Kitchens usually have a separate sink for just washing your hands.

I've had a curry go all the way through my system and out (forcibly, I might add) in a little under 40 mins.

Don't rule it out, especially greasy food.

oh i know the greasy food could go through, i was talking about any potential food poisoning effects (bacterial infections would take a bit longer to have effects..)

with the indian food, i save time and just eat it on the shitter.

I have a feeling each time you eat there are millions of bacteria on your food from other people’s genitals. Even if you wash your hands you have to turn the water off which you turned on with your dirty hands, best not to think about it.

I understand this. Where I work we have hand dryers in the bathroom. I can either sit there forever under the hand dryer, or walk out of the bathroom and use a sink behind the counter with paper towels.

If I know there's people waiting to use the bathroom I actually do wash them in there. Better to have them waiting but hearing the dryer than thinking I'm disgusting.

thats why you first get some paper towels hanging out of the dispenser, then turn the water on, wash your hands, take the paper towels, use them to turn the water off and then use them to push the lever for more paper towels, tehn use those paper towels to dry off and open the door...

this wasn't a matter of him not washing his hands in there. this was me seeing him walk in, walk out, and go righ to work, without changing the plastic gloves on his hands.

He probally took a piss and then washed his gloves.

"no one ever does that"

if you've read many threads here, you'd know that a lot of us do. and it is pretty much automatic, easy, and takes about 2 seconds longer than otherwise...and a lot of bathrooms have fucking signs explaining how to do it on the wall for people who get lost in the myriad of complicated steps...

i am automatic with a lot of that stuff, because i worked in a lab with campylobacter jejuni for quite awhile...sterile techniques are your friend with that bug, unless you want bloody diarrhea for 3 days.

which would be worse than not, because the folds of the gloves are going to retain moisture and whatnot that will drip into the food he was handling. and i really doubt he washed his gloves.

Yeah I'm just pulling your leg tnf, if I saw that I would of jumped over the counter and beat the kid before running off like a mad man.

Loads of professions require that kind of level of hygene, so it's not unfair to ask for it in the profession where it's most important - food preperation.

I've worked with fine print before now, and the level of hygene undertaken to work with the materials far exceeded what I see every week in Subway or KFC or down the pub.

Quite depressing.

Then you walk out with a bunch of paper towels in your hands.

Usually the garbage can is close to the door.

no, you toss them into the garbage can as the door is closing, or teh floor if need be...but your hands are clean, and decent restaurants shoudl have the restrooms checked at least hourly for cleanliness, so the paper towels will get picked up.

True but not always and sometimes it has that flap that you need to push in order to throw something away. Also you can easily miss and then you litter if it's far away.

You need to think these things through.

The correct answer is: Stay home and cook.

Omg, I do that, too - but I feel guilty when I miss and they land on the floor. We may be OCD freaks, tnf
