what it says for map then tried puttin the cheat in and its not working



(just so ya know i completed the game on nightmare without cheats don't believe me tough sh.....)

So what exactly do you want to do?

Play a map and enable cheats?

Or what are you wanting to do?

Push the ~ key then type:

/devmap q3dm?

? = 0 to 19

Cheats will then work

/god
/give all
/give quad damage

etc.

To be able to use codes in single-player mode, in the console, type: /sv_cheats 1, then, /devmap <name of map>.

Here are some cheats you can put in to the console after you have cheats enabled:

All skills unlocked at level 1: /iamacheater

All skills unlocked at level 100: /iamamonkey

God mode: /god

No clip (walk through walls): /noclip

Give all: /give all

Gives 25 health pack: /give 25 health
Gives 50 health pack: /give 50 health
Gives 999 of all ammo: /give ammo
Gives a medkit: /give medkit
Gives all weapons (except grappling hook) and full ammo, health, and armor: /give all
Gives all weapons except grappling hook: /give weapons Gives all weapons except grappling hook.
Gives Battle Suit. Use again to lengthen time: /give battle suit
Gives Flight. Use again to lengthen time /give flight
Gives grappling hook, which doesn't come with /give all: /give grappling hook
Gives Haste. Use again to lengthen time: /give haste
Gives Heavy Armor: /give heavy armor
Gives Invisibility. Use again to lengthen time: /give invisibility
Gives Mega Health: /give mega health
Gives Personal Teleporter: /give personal teleporter
Gives Quad Damage. Use again to lengthen time: /give quad damage
Gives Regeneration. Use again to lengthen time:/give regeneration
Gives you a pack of rockets, replace with ammo of your choice: /give rockets
Gives you a rocket launcher, replace with weapon of your choice: /give rocket launcher
Refills armor: /give armor
Refills health: /give health

Actually all you need is /devmap and the map name.

edit:NM, SP mode. Doh!!

edit 2: Cooldown, are you referring to the single player tiers or skirmish? Reason I'm asking is it doesn't seem to work in the tiers. At any rate, in all you need is /devmap for non tier.

If you devmap it will not load the tier. Just the map. You need sv_cheats beforehand for the tiers as i remember.

when I do that says that can't find the map... what should I do?

what's vmu?

To guarantee that you'll be able to run cheat cvars on a map....open up your notepad, and save the notepad as "cheatserver.bat", and cut -n- paste this to it:

start quake3.exe +set dedicated 0 +set sv_cheats 1 +devmap q3dm1


then put the batch file in your q3a folder. Make a shotcut from it to your desktop. Double click it.
After it's all booted up, if you wanna switch maps, devmap "map".

Aside from whats above, you can also do screenshot stuff like:

\cg_thirdperson 1 (which needs to be set to do these options)
\cg_thirdpersonangle "180" (it can be set 0-360) 180 would be looking straight at their face
\cg_thirdpersonrange "80" would be far away. I think the default for this cvar is 40...can't remember.

Only one problem, I'm not the best with comps, so, where's the console? I know this is the dumbest question of all history, but i'm good at games, bad at comps.

thank you. So what's the best thing to choose if you're only going to do one cheat? My friend and I are each choosing one cheat only, and versing each other on local, homemade servers. I'm thinking god, but invisibility also sounds like a good one. Anyone have their oppinions?

Well god's gonna trump all. You can't be killed... so.. you know, game over.

You can have some fun by setting \timescale to 0.5 or 2 instead of the default 1.

make a notepad called cheat.cfg and written in it have...

/devmap q3dm7
/give quad damage

then have a copy on each pc, then in quake /bind q exec cheat.cfg then you just bump q everytime you want quad

The first one of those commands would disconnect the player from the server and restart the level as q3dm7...

oh i got it all mucked up...

first /devmap ........

then in a .cfg file give quad...

my favourite is...

give quaddamaga
give railgun

and play on xaeros level or q3dm17

or you could just play instagib and not bother with the cheats.

well i only cheat when im recording a demo then send it to my friends lol, any good insta gibs on 1.32?
