Hope this works

Okay. I'm uploading the Q3 Map archive, disc by disc, as a bittorrent download. This is the first of about 13 discs

The CDs have an alphabetical order but they're not being uploaded in that order. This is 'G-L Disc 1', and it's 700Mb

UPDATE: Due to performance problems with the previous host, I have set up a dedicated tracker for The Archive. If you have an existing torrent running on ThePirateBay, simply stop the download and re-download the .torrent file from:

http://82.71.110.84:6969/

When asked where to save the data, point it at the partially-completed files you already have. This will resume where you left off.

Bittorrent?

For those of you unfamiliar with bittorrent, it's a free, legal filesharing system which shares a single item at a time and is capable of stupidly high speed downloads. To be truly effective, bittorrent downloaders are expected to leave the download open for a while after it has finished, so that they share the file out to other downloaders.

How to download

First, grab a copy of a bittorrent application. Bittorrent is just a protocol and there are loads of programs out there which can make use of it. Examples include Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net - the best program IMO), ABC (http://abc.sourceforge.net) and shadows (http://www.bittornado.com/)

Once you have a program which can download torrents, you need to get hold of the .torrent file for this download.

Open that file in your torrent program and it'll start to download!

This torrent contains:
Big props to LvL (http://www.planetquake.com/lvl) for this download, specifically Tig for uploading the entire LvL back-catalogue to me. Top bloke.

EDIT: Oh, one very important note: This download will initially be slow. But if enough people start to download it and leave it uploading when it's finished, it'll pick up speed in no time flat. Trust me on this.

And if you're having any major problems with downloading, post problems with bittorrent in T&T.

This upload and the ones to follow in the coming weeks are like 18 months too late, and for that I apologise. I hope those of you who were interested in these files all that time ago still have an interest in this archive.

Heya sumatra, I don't have those files in the archive! Have downloaded them and will hopefully tag them into the end download.


does anyone have a big collection of Q3 levels which have been released recently? I mean, has anyone been keeping track of the releases for the past year or so? I'd love a source for that. Failing this, I plan to do a lot more trawling in the next few weeks.

Foo there have been plenty of maps LvL added in the last year. It wouldn't fit an entire cd I don't think, but with adding the beta maps it would be a nice selection. I think some mappers never finish their beta maps, if you where to add all the beta stuff that would be a good list.

I have most of the maps from here from the las year and lots of betas...

I've been seeding for 23 hours solid now and about 6 people have completed the download and dropped straight off the torrent.

The whole thing would be much faster for all if they had stayed on for even an hour each.

Sad innit? As great as the concept of staying to help the other people overall I find it difficult to believe that less than 10% of the people stay for the full run (or at least a 1/2 ratio).

I can seed, I have a server on 24/7, I could probably seed for a while... prolem is that my upload isn't that fast...

Are you somehow insane? 13 discs?

They're not all full.

When Tig sent me the contents of the LvL stash, they came across grouped into folders like A-F, G-L and so on... I burned as many CDs as I needed for each set and for each one there's a tail CD which isn't full.

Unfortunately over the last year one of the CDs is missing, and there's extra levels which need more space, and DVDs are viable now and they would be better off on those. Not sure how I'm going to address that problem gracefully, but once you download the collections you cna burn them anywhichway you like
