I think you need to re-read every page on that site you linked to, but this time take off the press-release blinders and see it for what it really is.

I have no doubt there are people involved in the video who are geniune, however the entire presentation is nothing more than corporate fluff...the kind of shit you'd see at a convention to make everyone feel better about what they do. Most importantly: while I know of no agenda with the Gasland movie, this "rebuttal" has its agenda out in the open for all to see.

Therefore, because it's an obvious commercial for the "Independant Petroleum Association Of America" I cannot take it seriously as an objective source of information.

Ok, I watched the trailer and it looks like a major gas company collected a bunch of slack-jawed faggots with an average weight of 300lbs—who can barely string together a coherent, scripted sentence—to poopoo anyone who opposes America's idiocy.

was giving it the benefit of the doubt until i watched the trailer, where the level of contrived folksiness and graduated 2007 camerawork are blatantly on a symmetrical curve to the amount of manure being spread. you don't even need to hear what they're saying to be reasonably sure that it's bollocks.

that's not to say that gasland wasn't sensationalist (it was) or that there aren't undigested kernels of fact somewhere in this freshly pinched loaf - just that if you're interested in the topic, you'd do better to read up on it than watch a bunch of talking heads who (judging by the trailer) could just as easily be talking about the numerous health benefits of tobacco.

Furthermore, does it not bother you that the entire industry is hell-bent on juicing every last drop of energy from oil and gas instead of diverting its energy to developing stuff like solar power? The Sun gives us enough energy in a day to power everything we do on this planet like a thousand times over. Why the fuck are we wasting fucking time on gas and oil? Oh I know, because greedy cunts love money.

Oh I'm fully aware that solar panels as they exist essentially suck donkey nuts, cost tons to maintain and probably take decades in order to pay themselves off in most cases. However, my point is mainly that there is a giant fucking star in the sky giving us everything we need, so why are we not working towards capturing some of that? Would it not be more prudent to do this and leave our environment as intact as possible? Sure, it's a pipe-dream. Money-grubbing CEOs don't give half a shit about the future or innovation, frankly.
