I am looking to make a rock wall, more like a rock pit or sink hole. Any tips on the best way to do this?

I'd look into a lot of the Enemy Territory terrain tools (most of which I think work with quake 3 mapping?) and just..flip it so it's vertical like a wall. I imagine there's some way to smooth out edges when you've gotten things roughly where you want them.

I have no idea what you know about making terrain already, so I can only suggest reading Sock's terrain tutorials.

I'd suggest trying this great tool. I made my first cave in 30 minutes with it.
