the issue seems to be with a specific part manufactured by a separate company, anyone heard much about this?

Apple and Dell (and everyone else) got a batch of bad caps that burst and cause havoc with power systems. I'm sure it's all related to that. We've replaced ~20 Dell GX270 motherboards in the last 3 months because of those caps
