1 recently bought q4 , like the single player but I bought q4 to play online.
Updated to 1.2 and everytime punkbuster is enabled the whole q4 app
crashes and will not restart unless you trash the q4.cfg file. All the servers
bar 1 or 2 out of a a hundred or so are pb enabled.
Contacted Aspyr tech support via email told them the issue. My reply
from them was it is a known issue and they do not know if they will ever
be able to resolve it .
My grievance is I feel I have been robbed in purchasing this title , due to
the lack of multiplayer support . I cant blame id inc as Aspyr are the conversion house and should be supporting the title , pc's are already on
1.3 . Anyway I will never buy another Aspyr title again . At least not while
they have there present attitude. So my advice would be not to buy q4,
if your purchase is based on the multiplayer aspect of the game.

Roger that. Thanks for the heads up. I played a few games on multiplayer, but didnt like it very much. I really liked the single player, so the purchase was worth it for me.

I'm not a massive fan of it as it's not really an on-line game. If I wanted to play with myself...

Graphically it was very demanding on my dual G5 (ATI6800/64MB) but less so than Doom 3.

I'm still glad I bought it but I'm stuck with a PowerBook G4 at the moment as the G5 is currently in a different country been a server.

I'll buy a new Mac before the end of the year.

Oh, yeah. I bought a MacPro. Quake 4 is noticably faster on it (Intel update).

Even Entourage works well, faster than it did on the PowerBook running natively so it seems.

I installed XP Pro with BootCamp but I've only booted into it once as I've no real use for it. Works fine with the exception of the iSight. I think it's because the iSight is *so* old (i.e. it was the freebit from WWDC).
