Well I'd say the standard is an Athlon 64 3000+ with 1 Gig of RAM and a GeForce 6800GT 256Mb :D

Why does it say ATI 9700 and GF3? A 9700 is WAY better than a GF3.

I guess I gotta replace my 9600XT. :(

If the game starts with "The way it's meant to be played" you'll know why. I've got a 9600XT as well and wondered the same thing. I can only assume it'll be driver *cough*developer*cough* support.

I've got a GeForce Go 6800. I'm so out of touch with hardware I have no idea how that measures up to desktop cards. It runs HL2 okay...

Ehh, that's minimum?
Guess the old Radeon 9800 won't really cut it anymore. I guess my AthlonXP 2800+ is enough and I have 1 gb of memory, but the videocard.... hmm...

where did you get those specs? I can't really believe they would put a Radeon 9700 as minimum together with a Geforce3... a 9700 is much faster. Are you sure it shoudn't be a Radeon 9200?

Anyways, I'll be playing Ultra detail 1280x1024 using:

3200 Athlon 64bit cpu
2048meg DDR ram
GeForce 6800 GT 256meg DDR (overclocked to Ultra)
5.1 surround sound

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Those are. That list actually comes from the quake4game.com site (under game info, at the bottom of the entire text). The odd thing is that in the list of supported videocards they indeed do list the Radeon 9700 and GeForce 3 as slowest cards from ATI and nVidia respectively.

which is why I believe it to be a typo, because a Geforce3 is not even in the same league as a Radeon 9700.

Doesn't it seem strange that an X300 makes the list and not a 9600? How can you even compare a GF3 and a 9600?

If I'm pissed off at anything it's how you can even spell you're.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO, I have the same card :tear:. Looks like I'll have to turn the settings down a bunch for the first few months of playing. Although, I think it was a typo like mentioned above.

edit:

http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle. ... 523&cid=10

That site has the 9600 XT performing a hair better than the 9700. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

How about you all just plump up the what 70 dollars for a new video card capable of running the damn game and stop having a biatch fight over something that is so irrelevant.

PS reminder - NVidia cards run Doom 3 (opengl) better than ATi - fact

Have you ever thought that might be the reason.

What if I don't have 70 bucks to buy a better card? I mean, a 9600 XT is roughly 80 bucks right now. It's at least 150 bucks to buy something worth while.

I'm not bitching. In fact, my life won't end if I don't buy the game when it is released.

I know the ATI and NVIDIA thing for id games. I prefer ATI for other reasons.
