iso map

[lvlshot]http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/5846/map2dayregular.jpg[/lvlshot]

doomer, shaft, bkb's water fortress is bottom right.
brown box in bottom middle is AmidiFreAk's gold castle.
you can see fkd's aircraft carrier, pirate boat and mayan temple .
The long road to the top middle is to silcone's rapid.
stu's mana tree in the middle bottom (hard to make out).
this doesn't show at all the hours of work we have put in underground.

Something that isn't on the map,

Doomers.... tower? To be honest, we're not sure what to call it :)

I'm digging out the first level of the first episode of Wolfenstein 3D in a mountain.

This one:
Image

I'm taking every square on the map as a 2x2x2 block in Minecraft. The entrance is at the lower most wall. Last thing is that I was digging out the top room with the brown walls, so I'm at 2/3rds or so. When the overall shape is cut out I'm gonna collect materials to give the floors and walls a uniform look. Right now there's patches of dirt and grit between the rock.

edit:
oh, this is on the Q3W server btw

that wolfed screenshot brings back memories of lost youth.

also i'm quite impressed that a game that looks like 8-bit sprites has such a following.
pretty big win for gameplay over graphics.

hey mjrpes can you post an updated map of the server? we've all added some cool stuff and it'd be nice to see where it all is.

Earlier in this thread (page 1 or 2) you stated that you didn't see Minecraft's appeal.

Oh, lol, yeah. Well, I tried the game out of curiosity, doodled around a bit in single player and found that it did have some appeal.

Now that I've discovered multiplayer I've figured that the experience of building things is shared and that makes it even more awesome. It slowly dragged me in I guess :)

the map is 87mb in size and 38mb compressed. uncompressed it is made out of thousands of tiny files.

the program i used to create to map is one of many free minecraft mapping programs, called cartograph.

I built Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water on top of the mountain. A bunch of guys pooled together a MASSIVE amount of TNT to create two lakes.
