so far, the pk3 files I found appear to be zipped. The extensions are .pk3.zip. I removed the .zip extension as suggested in the other thread, but that doesn't seem to work, with good reason. The files are probably zipped and the pk3 needs to be extracted. I can't find a mod folder, but the readme s...

I'm sorry about the attitude, that's not the way I am. I want to get this issue resolved because some of these mods are 30MB+ and autodownloading in quake only goes 3K/s for some of them. I would rather download them off a web site if I can. Your response seemed to kill any chance of getting informa...

Installing custom mods on Macintosh
I have yet to successfully install a custom mod I have downloaded. The zip file is either corrupt, or the pk3 is unzipped as a folder. I have a Macintosh and I hear that on Windows, it is unzipped for you. What do I have to use to unzip these things?

I downloaded a pk3 mod and it has some .wav files in it. How do I install those or what do I do with them?

I couldn't find any products on the link to youtube.com, just the video. I've been using the mouse, but can't figure out how to configure the grappling hook. I have an Apple might mouse, but the button layout doesn't work with Quake too well. MacMall has two Diamondback mice that look like possibili...

Shopping for a controlller
I have a Macintosh with MacOS X Tiger and I would like to get something besides the mouse to play the game with. The mouse doesn't work too well when my hand gets sweaty. Would you fellow Mac (and PC) users make some recommendations as to what would be a good controller for playing Quake III and wha...

yeah!! it works now. I was editing the wrong q3config file. I remember in Quake I we configed the grapple for 'q'. You would hit 'q' once and then press and hold again to retract the line. Is there similar behavior in Q3. There doesn't seem to be for me, but I saw players using the grapple as an exc...

Grappling Hook
What's the key for the grappling hook on MacOS. I can't find it in the config anywhere. I only the hook wasn't available on Quake I on the Mac, so I hope they fixed that in Quake3.

Can't Find Server
I can't find any Quake servers for multiplayer game. I am behind a firewall at the U, so I hope that there is a way to get through. Does anybody know what's going on?
What port does this game play on? Can I change it?

Installing Quake Arena
I just got a new 12" PowerBook and I tried copying the install folder from my old machine. Now when I run Quake, it sounds like it's on Steroids. Since the new machine is faster, I was wondering if the install looks at the processor speed of the machine. I would install from scratch, but I can'...

Punkbuster is kicking me off
hi
I have punkbuster installed, but when I try to join a server, I get kicked out after about 1 minute by punkbuster. I think my install may be a bit old. Can someone tell me how to update this?
I am running MacOS X Panther and Quake G4.
Thanks.

Quake Servers
hi
I just joined the Quake3 online world. Is there a list of servers I would be welcome at to join? I don't want to crash somebody's office party or anything.
Can somebody suggest some good servers to check out?
Thanks!
