you just need a newer version of q3map2. bsp decompiling is supported since 2.5x (afaik) edit: 2.5.6 (2003-08-15) - New: can convert BSP files to MAP files via -convert -format map. I don't see anything forbidding in the copywrite, im just trying to get take a look at some distances and stuff, trying to start a q4 map based around this ;).

q3map2 decompiling help

im using the command line:

q3map2\q3map2.exe -convert <path/map.bsp> in the window's command prompt, but im only get an ASE file, what would i need to add to output a .map?

That's because it's not a zoom. It changes your fov to like 20. Just bind a key to lower sensitivity and zoom, and then back to the opposite.

Most good players don't ever zoom. It's not really needed if you have decent aim.

I don't think it's really that much better, it just seems that way with the crappy maps that have no room to get speed really. Well not as much speed as you could get in other quakes.
