Reading the Lagometer
http://thisisalex.free.fr/images/netlagometer.jpg Thats what it usually looks like, note the big vertical yellow line at the end was because of me taking the screenshot, but the rest is a good representation of what happens on my lagometer on that server. Im from the UK and that server was a multipl...

R_lightdetail commands work online, they are not cheat protected. I think you are mistaken with the command r_singlelight which is cheat protected.dzjepp wrote:Ok so why is this mappack needed anyway? Can't you disable r_lightdetail etc. commands via server config so that clients can use custom variables? No?

Once they open that door, there is no going back. The door is already open, try image_lodbias 5 = blurry walls, easy to distinguish person from environment, couple this with a few changes in brightness and gamma and walah! the game is no longer as the developer intended it to be and you have that &...

Yes, and the people who upgraded hardware to keep up with the latest games find themselves having to revert back to 1ghz CPU visual settings just to stay competitive. :) I have a question for you guys on this issue though, to get your opinion. Yes, even if brightskins are released it is your decisi...

Well Foo, commands that aid visibility are already allowed. Take image_lodbias command for example, it makes all the wall textures go blurry and makes it alot easier to see the enemy as the model no longer blends in with the environment, couple this with brightness and gamma tweaks and you have an &...

I dont fully understand why it unevens the playing field or penalizes the users with newer hardware but im sure that if the commands are allowed in the way that your saying, the only servers that will even want them are the ones with the competitive mods (e.g. osp, cpma etc) so i guess the servers a...

i AGREE!!! this is how i ran Quake 3, and this is what i'm waiting for to run Quake 4 with. I feel as though we should e-mail this to ID/Raven soft and ask ( or recommend ) for it to be able to be Uncheat protected, Or INSIST that the modding community Add's this into there mod! This command is a godsend, i pray that Raven/ID allow this command through a patch. DruM the reason it is pitchblack is because you must use a different number with the r_singlelight command for each map, the numbers are in the first post. Also to brighten things up for better visibility (something ...
