Quake Champions - Gameplay Footage!

Haven't been around here in a while.. wanted to see what the Q3 crowd thinks of Quake Champions . The original announcement trailer was kinda meh.. But the first gameplay trailer that was just released looks pretty slick.. the level design & gameplay looks classic Q3, think I spotted a fe...

AEon-

Don't know if you've ordered yet but this setup might be worth it over the Intel Haswell build.

Re: Screenshots

I put the crates there to check if they could improve gameplay by getting used to quick-reach the next level. But it doesnt work well so i will delete them. Theyre more a bug then a feature! :/ EDIT: But i think i get that Ironic-stuff: [lvlshot]http://i.imgur.com/PTPcqTM.jpg[/lvlshot] Crates make ...

You should probably hit up Func_Msgboard too, that community is still very active in the Q1 Mapping scene.

Re: Quake 3 in Windows 8

CZghost, you're 17. Get a part-time job, save up, buy a new computer. yep... I started working part-time at age 14. I bought my first computer at age 18, was great having my own system to do what I pleased with it. :) I had to drop about $1500 to get something decent. Then a year later I got a 3dfx...

Re: Quake 3 in Windows 8

We have that PC for about six years, but have new components in (except for CPU)... Hope that Intel Pentium 4 is supported by Win8 :) I know that, anyway upgrade won't accelerate computer much, so we need to erase all the stuff on internal HDD... Yes Win8 will run on a Pentium 4. Now the real quest...

Re: Screenshots

I think the problem is that you've gone too harsh on the lighting. Move a bit away from primary colours and most importantly, tone down the saturation of your lighting. I've toned down the overall saturation of the scene by about 25% while changing the lighting to a golden yellow-orange hue to matc...

Re: Screenshots

Looks awesome o'dium! Needs some anti-aliasing though. Have you thought about using a post processing AA technique? SMAA (Subpixel Morphological Antialiasing) is probably the best implementation I've seen. Gives an awesome anti-aliased image with very little framerate hit. http://www.iryoku.com/sma...

If your running on Far View Distance try using Normal... Far crashes me constantly in SMP for some reason.

Thought I would chime in on the Minecraft thread... haven't posted here in a while. But got into Minecraft via the Shacknews Server. Lets just say we've been busy.

Here is a zoomable google map view of our world currently...

Re: Map on the Edge of Forever

Sock- Great map... I love it!! Really amazing you did this with Q3. I remember trying to do some various weird shit with switches and triggers. I gave up as the crap was too frustrating. I'm almost tempted to look at the source for this, but I bet I wouldn't be able to make heads or tales of it. lol

Re: Screenshots

i like the highlights on the textures, but imo these kinda textures look a little weird as the lighting seems to get a little lost on really busy textures. looking cool tho man. btw, how did you get q3rad to work in vista? dont think i can switch back after gtk.. but yeah Just had to setup Compatib...

Thanks goth-, Yah I put that together in maybe 30 mins or so. Not 100% if I'll use these textures at all. They do look nice cause most of them are double the resolution used in Quake 3.

Dunno if this will turn into anything, but got bit by the mapping bug. I haven't done anything in about 3-4yrs, but decided to try something out. Found this high-res texture pack for Q2, gonna try them in a Q3 map I think. Yes its a wall, but what do you think thus far? hehe [lvlshot]http://shadowda...

GTKRadiant 1.5.0 Problem

So installed Quake 3 and GTKRadiant 1.5.0. Well Quake 3 runs perfectly fine, GTKRadiant 1.5.0 on the other hand is a mess. It doesn't render any of the views. I don't get any error messages or anything, I can click on texture folders and it apparently loads them. Yet it displays nothing?! Any ideas ...

ID's engines have always challenged hardware.. hell when Quake 3 came out I played it on my Pentium 2 - 400Mhz on nearly the lowest detail setting at 640x480. It ran but not very well.. when Q3 was first released I think somewhere around 550 - 650Mhz was top of the line. Same goes for Doom 3 / Quake...

I've personally tested the map on 4 different computers, all are pretty common configurations. Also I had a playtest group d...
