Just did. I'm getting 2700 bucks back.

I love tax-return software.

I got my money two weeks ago. I got back $942 thanks to the Hope credit. Had to pay $14 state and $30 city tax though.

I thought the taxfree threshold was $6k? That's a pretty sweet setup though, not having to report earnings. My first part-time job was network adminning and I made so little that they would put my pay under their petty expenditures. A lot of people won't agree to that though, so it's cool that you've got people willing to do that.

yeah, i just get paid cash in hand out of expenditures... just how i've always been paid there so it seems the same, minus filling out any forms or that shit that i've done for previous jobs. website stuff is just recieved over paypal and sits there (and slowly dissapears as i pay for my webserver and buy things online)

iirc the threshold is $5k, but it's not like i have a great deal of experience with all that (a week of commerce class and whatever my accountant tells me). not that it would matter, i make about $6500-7000 a year anyway, i could easy claim plenty of stuff as tax deduction (just claim most of my computer stuff as required for web design :))

But that would rule out that he was gay because gay couples don't get tax breaks...

i never understand why so many people overpay their taxes. the government doesnt pay you interest, so why give them a free loan?

I tried explaining that last year. People just don't get it. You should try to get as small a refund as possible. If I get more than a couple hundred $$$, I readjust my deductions so it doesn't happen next year.

I did mine this year and found out I'll be getting more but I have to wait for it for the time being.

I got 300$ back this year but I've never claimed my student loan in past years so I haven't gotten anything back from that and I was supposed to so I got about 3 years backpay owed to me or about 900$ plus I haven't received a single GST check for the last 3 years and apparently that's another 700$ so all in all I'm doing ok this year. :D
