i personally couldn't give a shit about college basketball... but its always fun to gamble on.

feel free to hit up the espn tourney challenge and make some picks, its free.
20 hours left until the brackets are locked

http://games.espn.go.com/tcmen/frontpage

after your done filing out the bracket you can join a group.. i made this one:

group = Quake3World
password = q3w

join up and get owned by my random picking skills.

Funny story about NCAA brackets.
http://newmarksdoor.typepad.com/mainblo ... orkpl.html
Quote:
March 27, 2003

My wife's workplace runs an NCAA tournament pool. She wanted to participate but since she doesn't follow college basketball, she asked me to fill out a bracket. I did. I asked how much money we were going to win. She told me what the pot was but noted that the top scorer only received half the pot. Half was awarded to the worst entry.

Two generalizations about my wife's coworkers are relevant to what I did then. First, they are very nice people. They probably decided to award half the money to the worst entry because they were trying to compensate the loser for his shame and embarrassment Second, my wife's coworkers are not economists. They don't think like economists. Many of them, I'd bet, even dislike the way economists think.

So I, a practicing economist, filled out a second bracket, a bracket deliberately intended to lose. It was easy and fun. No sixteenth seed has ever won a game, so I picked the sixteenth seeds for the Final Four. (Vermont clobbers Arizona! IUPUI rolls!)

The result was that even though only two rounds have been played, that entry is locked into last. We have seven points, but the next lowest score is twenty-nine. And we can't score any more!

One of my wife's co-workers sought to console her for her extremely poor performance. She said it was done deliberately. Her co-worker said, "WHAT?" My wife explained that half the pot was a nice amount and that economists predict that people respond to incentives.

Her co-worker was shocked. My wife stands accused of "impropriety." She has been banned from the pool for one year and the pool will have different rules next year.

The moral of the story is that thinking like an economist may make you unpopular but can make you some money.

yeah, thats a silly rule... its much easier to pick a looser than a winner. i've heard of rules where the toilet entry gets their entry fee back... but nothing like giving last the same money as first... that makes no sense at all.

It is pretty much Illinois tournament to lose. I just want to see Gonzaga beat Bobby Knight's team in the second round...so hopefully the cards will fall that way.

Well, after the morning games...
I picked the UW Milwaukee upset. Only game I've lost so far was Oklahoma and Niagra...picked Niagra as a big upset. Didn't happen.

So right now I am 7-1.

Bucknell. :lol:

Awesome, though, that Vermont and Bucknell won. I really thought Bucknell was done when they had the turnover and intentional foul near the end. That bank shot jump hook they made was lucky as hell.

In all seriousness though, I don't really care about basketball nor the NCAA tournament. I just filled out a bracket and paid 5$ to help out my friend's pool for the peple who actually do care :p

No, they just decided not to shoot free throws today.

I wouldn't say they were overrated at all, its been shown all season that every high ranked team can fall to a nobody.

The zags weakness was their ability to adjust.

Gonzaga.

The ones that just fucked themselves out of the sweet 16 by shooting about 60 percent from the free throw line...
