Anybody else here read his stuff before? I think I remember someone mentioning him in one of the "last book" threads.

Anyway, I read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress early last year. I loved it for about the first half, and after that it seemed to start dragging a little. Even the battles later didn't seem like they had that same excitement level that the earlier parts of the book had. Nonetheless, it was a great book just for the world he'd imagined and his unique writing style.

So a couple of weeks ago, I bought the original unedited version of Stranger in a Strange Land, and I have a hard time putting it down every day. I wasn't sure exactly what the scope of the book was when I started it -- I kind-of assumed it would be about a political/legal battle over property and money that resulted from The Man From Mars' return home, but the story is surprising me.

And it is very hard to pin down Heinlein's political and philosophical stances from reading. He has several characters, and the most important ones seem to have a very neutral tint, but with hints of everything: capitalism, socialism, communism; equality mixed with misogyny; free will along with destiny; all in the same personality.

Anyway, just wanted to post and see how many others have read his stuff. If you have, I really like most of what I've read, so can you recommend more?

I'm already planning on buying Starship Troopers. :icon32:

I've always liked Glory Road, which is a rather frivolous and fun to read short novel. Revolt in 2100 is oftentimes referred to as the archetypical early Heinlein. There's a decent review here.
