dresden was punishment, if they had a problem with that sort of thing they shouldn't have started the war.

i thought the war was as good as over? same for nagasaki and hiroshima.

my history's bloody hopeless (i.e. probably wrong), but that's the way our lefty history teacher taught it at school.

I guess the same can be said about 9/11. It was punishment for the US's dirty foreign policy.

The only point of the bombing was the urge of the bomb squad of the western allies to profile in front of the russians. Same goes for the bombing of Pforzheim which, as Dresden, had no military/strategic significance.

BBC says that Dresden had *some* significance... but who knows. Retaliation for London, I'd assume.
