Ah yes, we are all supposed to hate Bethesda but secretly we love them for now we can blame them for all id's shortcomings.

Not at all - I think Doom will be great and I would love to see a new Quake.
Bethesda did an awesome job with Wolf too...so you know...

I'd be happy with an updated Q3 to suit new HW

I played the closed beta but I'm not allowed to talk about it. It was pretty fun despite the fact that you play as a master chief in molasses that can only hold 2 weapons for some reason.

Note to self: I better read up on this one. The MKJ video (Posted: 10-22-2015 08:50 AM) looks good.

I think they said before the game wont have inventory restrictions, so I guess what Geoff is saying makes sense.
it's an alpha. people. Chances are all weapons aren't even ready for use yet.

Apparently there were first come first serve sign-ups for this weekends alpha on all 3 platforms and MKJ didn't feel like telling anyone.

Ok a little more on that;

The game is fast paced, which is good. You have 2 weapons and a grenade, hence the CODish-ness. The guns don't feel solid enough for my liking - when I rocket launcher hits the floor I want some bass and some feeling of "I just blew you the fuck up". The plasma rifle is also the same; it doesn't feel like I am doing any real damage.

I liked spawning as a demon; it is massively overpowered but with some good team work, you can take it down quickly and pick up the power up yourself and run amok amongst the enemy.

I will play a fair bit more this weekend and try out more of the weapons and learn the map more, etc. But first impressions are of a very fun and very pretty game.

No that's only the beta.

Played for hours last night. The strict NDA prevents me from sharing but I can say the alpha turned this sceptic's view around. This game is truly an arena shooter and a good one at that. Old Q3 players should feel right at home with its fast pacing and near flawless level design.
Stuff like the double jump adds a new layer to trick jumping in the same vein Titanfall does.

Loadouts made me a bit wary but there's still plenty of map control going on in way of powerups and unique weapon pickups.

Also, in dire need of CTF.

The game made me instinctively shout Q3isms at the screen :olo: "Fuck off nerd >:E".

More games played - really enjoying this now. The pace is the main thing; nothing has felt this fast to me for a long time.

More levels and different game play will be amazing, but so far this is holding up well. Also it is lovely to look at and runs perfectly on the old PS4

Yes it was

I played it on both PS4 and PC and it performs excellently on both of them. Playing on PC felt like I was playing a modern, very pretty Quake. It's a day one purchase for me, no question.
