There's no key, it licenses the PC you install it to.

Windows 10 is very good, it's worth it. Far better than 8.

I never did 8 but I will say I am happy with 10 to date. Besides some initial driver woes I haven't had a drama.

Question: I haven't run any of my old DOS (probably Windows 3.1) software in W10. Can it be done, any hints?

Wait, Googles...... Clicky
Must try some old stuff from the bottom drawer., the likes of Corridor 7 and Space Hulk for old time (timers) sake :D

Yep, Dosbox or just a Virtual Machine, though Dosbox is easier I guess.

I put it off and procrastinated for the longest time. I was afraid of incompatibilities, bugs, and other problems to get fixed first. I use my home PC for work, so I couldn't afford to have downtime while I fixed shit that broke after the upgrade.

Last weekend I bit the bullet and upgraded, and I was a bit surprised to find that I encountered virtually no problems. Everything was seamless, short of a bluetooth headset that beeps every 20 seconds as if it's trying to connect, even though it already is. All my installed games still work, all my files still open normally and are in the right place, all the system options mostly stayed the same, and everything is still where I expected it to be. I tweaked the Start Menu and got rid of the Action Center, and that's about it.

This has got to be the smoothest OS upgrade yet. Would recommend.

Quite pleased with it after putting the classic shell on it, switched off some of the privacy shit and notifications.

Also recommend

Also virtual desktops

What,really? :ducky:
What i understood is if youre using win10 and are planing to buy a new modo-that you will need a new Windows key too.
Like that you can install it to just 1 machine and if your machine dies -windows will die with it.
I never had such stuff with XP. :/

Yarp, think XP gave you 10 activation's before you needed to start making phonecalls and firing off Emails to MS ?

Dunno if XP had this but from Vista onwards if you also had an OEM copy of Windows then that product would be tied to your mobo, no transfers. It's the same licensing agreement for Win10.

It's free, so whatcha gonna moan about ?. If you down own a full retail of Win7 you will never lose that copy.

I installed it, along with Spybot Anti-Beacon a few months ago. No complaints, and it feels much faster than Windows 7.

The only thing I don't like is the dumbed down Windows 8 style control panel options. Setting up a VPN connection for example is painful :tard:. I know you can mostly use the old style ones, but they're more burred away

Pro tip: start + tab gives an OSX Exposé style alt-tab screen which you can also use to set-up virtual desktops (bottom at the bottom right) to get things off your main screen assuming you're not running multi monitors.

Right click on the start button and 7 style Control Panel is right there.

The VPN stuff still uses the new style menu though unfortunately. I don't have to do it very often, but still!

The only reason I got it is for dx12 games. Suppose to give 5 to 10 fps performance boost compared to dx11, relatively speaking.

U can only use dx12 with Windows 10.. I ain't mad about that, since it's free.

Then you're the only one that likes it ;p

VS

Plus the stupidity of having 2 groups of shortcuts right next to each other in the same pane :dork:

Plus Classicshell gives you context / cascade menus

Where else do you keep your shortcuts ?, I don't like clutter on the desktop or in the start bar.

Plus search, which I use all the time.
