Hah, I dunno, I actually did put DC on some artwork (the headphones the rebels wear in the salt flat sequence). I never checked if the painters actually used it.

After letting the dust settle, it's no Rogue One but the kids will like it. It's better than TFA.

I'll be catching a session next week as it is s school holidays here and I am trying to avoid the crowd/crush. I'll no doubt finish my Christmas shopping at the same time.

I sawd it too

I liked it a lot more than TFA (wasn't a massive fan of the reboot) but I think Disney are thumbling a bit, there's a lot of bloat story wise with dead ends. It was kind of weird, really, it was a very good film and I don't want to hit on it too much cos it'd be extremely unfair when compared to a lot of shit released these days but it felt more like a film from the Marvel universe.

Funny how people put this all on Disney (as a corporate entity) rather than the creative people involved

It's the Juggernaut now innit.

Didney is only part of the problem and it is an assumption but imo you can tell the teams don't get the freedom and I think that was a big problem with this film. The main plot was straight from a Star Trek ep (lazy writing?), the sub plots lead absolutely nowhere and a lot of stuff seems to be shoe horned in... 'We need a scene with this / we need that in the film / this is a must'. Visually it's stunning, the film is put together excellently but the writing, character development and story telling is just plain lazy and hackish resulting in a film that finds itself struggling to set up the next fight scene.

It'll still get a 7/10 from me like but overall it was a bit of a head thumper.

I never enjoy it as much the first time because I second guess and over analyze everything. My initial impression was pretty meh. Looking back though the entire thing seemed to be about failure and it mirrored ESB much like TFA mirrored ANH.

It wasn't very good was it. Some decent elements but on the whole it was very mediocre at best. It wasn't cohesive enough.

Had nothing to do with my "specific expectations", I just wanted a good Star Wars story with a decent enough plot to bridge the action scenes.

Rogue One did that, 7 & 8 on the other hand are just really bad movies—Star Wars or not.

If anything, the new trilogy is making me somewhat appreciate Eps 1-3 :alert:

Eh, Disney makes all the creative decisions, from plot to directing to forcing awkward ethnic casting for the sake of "diversity".

I think in the vein of star wars it was fine. They’ve all had dumb humor, mediocre plots and catered to kids with hand holding explanations every step of the way. “hmm it’s salt”. Nostalgia and Ford carry the original series. Hamil and Fisher were never great actors and Fisher was awful in the last two.

I enjoy them all for what they are. Even ep1-3. It’s great for the kids and somthing the whole family can get into.

It's a fine line innit, between going too serious like eps1-3 and over the top like the reboots.

The problem with TLJ though (and TFA) is that it was trying to be smart and landed on its arse, it lost a lot of the adventure imo.

I think it’s hard to please the older fans who are adults now and still cater to the young ones. My kids who are 9, 11 and 13 thought it was the best movie they’ve ever seen. I kept myself from shitting on it as we left the theater.

Idk, I know people who were adults back then and still think the 1st 3 were gold. They were pretty groundbreaking movies back then though which could be a factor.

This is why it's a good film.

It doesn't really matter what they do as far as the older fans are concerned, there will always be tears. The closest it's ever going to get for them is Rogue One.

It was alright, I really enjoyed it at 1st but I fell victim to the fan service. I think people were falling over themselves over FTA, I was the only one that didn't get on with it :/

Finally got to see this. It was ok. Actually, I’d say it was good, but it’s not really Star Wars anymore. Disney, or the powers that be, has made it something different. Episodes 4-6 were more of a space drama. The new movies are action/adventure. Star Wars isn’t what it use to be, but these new films are still good in their own way...I guess...
