I just got a new 12" PowerBook and I tried copying the install folder from my old machine. Now when I run Quake, it sounds like it's on Steroids. Since the new machine is faster, I was wondering if the install looks at the processor speed of the machine.

I would install from scratch, but I can't seem to find the Quake3 G4 downloads anywhere. They were all unavailable this weekend it seems like.

I seem to remember jumping through some hoops to install the Quake3 Altivec Test. If someone can repeat those instructions or point me to them that would also help.

Anxious to get online.

Go to your Audio/MIDI setup utility in your utilities folder, and change the sampling rate to 44.1KHz (44100Hz) and you should be golden.
