..adapter that is actually compatible with Mac's. My new roommate has a old iMac which doesnt have wifi, so I need a USB adapter which supports WPA encryption and has drivers for Mac

I use Apple's airport card. It works on all 802.11b and 802.11g networks, so that might be his best option. I'm not sure about external adaptors. I think he can use an airport express unit and connect it to his ethernet port, but i'm not sure. Still, that's ~$130 for the express.

well, I believe its not meant to be a network card. Rather, its meant to interface stereos and such with iTunes.

Actually its just a basic 8 or 10 client wireless router with added audio streaming and print server functionality. I love mine and I'd never give it away.

I agree with G-News. The range on an Airport Express ias also great - far better than 3Com & Netgear products that I've used previously.

Cheers,

Then again its extremely portable and has multiple location sets, that you can save, so you can move from location to location and will never have to configure it over and over again.
