Aaaaah, Electroplankton.
Heh, the guys over at YakYak are really excited about this one; different planktons make different noises and light patterns; it seems to be part game, part light synth.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's going to get a Western release, or if it does, according to the head of Nintendo US' PR department, it'll be rap & hiphop-iffied :dork:

To be honest, I know too little about it to be really intruiged by it.

What I'm really hoping for is that the DS with it's stylus input method will inspire developers to try and do some classic 2D stuff again. A game like Lemmings, Worms or point & click adventures like Kings Quest, no 3D nonsense, just flat 2D.

It's a shame there's so many Japan-only releases. There are a lot of great games that are only available in Japan just because they're supposedly not suitable for the EU/US markets.

Well "Catch, Touch, Yoshi!" is expecting a Euro release any day now, and apparently that's the best use of the stylus yet...
By the way, don't forget that if you REALLY want a game and don't care about the language barrier, there's nothing to stop you importing Japanese titles.
Unlike standard consoles, most handhelds, including the DS, are not region specific.

I know, but many a japanese RPG isn't released in Europe and reading text is a big part of those games.

Man, I really hope id Software will port Quake II (the PC version, not the N64 version with it's overuse of colored lighting) to the Nintendo DS. With 16 player wireless multiplayer and the whole thing. That would be bloody excellent!
