You'd have to be some kind of mega-moron to not have heard of Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler.

There's this new genre called Synthwave that's emerged, it's some kind of 80s retro style but new.

More epic power metal :toothy:

New album by Iron Savior (Rise of the Hero, 2014) is top notch

Savage Circus, another band featuring Piet Selck (Iron Savior frontman) that is Thomen Stauch's (ex-Blind Guardian drummer) side project. This album (from 2005) Sounds a fair bit like Blind Guardian Imaginations era

And last but not least... recent album from Unisonic - Michael Kiske (Helloween,, Avantasia) and Kai Hansen (Helloween, Gamma Ray, Iron Savior) collaborating again for the first time since Helloween's 1988 Keepers albums :D (for me I think I prefer Kiske's efforts on this album at using his whole vocal range and not just staying up in the stratosphere!)

I'm always amazed at how many side projects and crossovers the power metal genre has... great for discovering new stuff though, and they're always working - new albums this year from Iron Savior, Unisonic, Gamma Ray, Edguy... :)
