5th largest e-quake of century
Re: 5th largest e-quake of century
That's what I'm striving for. These fucking cunts at the Large Hard-on Collider are wasting their time.

Along the shore at the temporary storage site at Tomioka are 10.7 million 1-ton container bags containing radioactive debris and other waste collected in decontamination outside the plant.

This could have been a new thread, though.

Are we still talking about this? Aren't we supposed to ignore this topic in favor of the crisis of the day? I mean, still discussing the Bruxelles attack is already pushing it.
Re: 5th largest e-quake of century
I'm actually still interested in this story...

You all do know that radiation is still leaking into the Pacific ocean 5 years on?
This isn't old news...

Sorry, forgot to add my Reddit-style /s tag there. Looks like it threw off a few people.
Re: 5th largest e-quake of century
The problem is the contaminated water innit ?, still ?. The soil and debris can be left laying around in quarantine like the Ruskies did I imagine. They're either gonna have to build a wall to stop the contaminates getting to the ocean or/and move the water to better storage. This isn't like a Chernobyl though where the reactor was/still is churning out mass amounts of radiation hourly though ?, to the point where they need to build a building for the building.

The probably would built a tomb but shit blew up and melted down so a lot of the radioactive material they can't find now. It's not localized like it was in Chernobyl. And yeah the water is still a problem. They haven't figured out how to stop it.

I was under the impression the core stayed intact ?

Not a lot was done to dispel that impression. Silence and misinformation ruled and largely still does.

(CNN)The reactor meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant hit by a devastating tsunami in 2011 should have been announced much sooner, the operator admitted this week.
In a statement, the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) said that a public declaration of the meltdown should have been done within days of the disaster.
It did not reveal that a meltdown was taking place for almost two months...
Damage to one of the reactor cores exceeded 50% within three days of the tsunami, but TEPCO did not acknowledge that a meltdown was taking place until months later.
While it did not tell the public until May, TEPCO said that it had informed the government of the ongoing meltdown within days of the disaster, as required by law.
"We apologize for the great inconvenience and worry" the delay caused, TEPCO said. Whether or not to declare a meltdown was a fraught and politically charged decision at the time, both at TEPCO and within the Japanese government.
TEPCO previously admitted in a 2012 report that it played down safety risks at the Fukushima plant out of fear that additional measures would lead to a plant shutdown and further fuel public anxiety and anti-nuclear movements.

Well if it's broken containment they better find where the fuel is 1st.
I seen they're trying to build a wall of ice to stop water seepage n all ?
, I heard about that a few years back and I thought the obvious thing to do would be to build facilities as storage for the water on site 1st, then to sort out the contaminates in the ground.

Re: 5th largest e-quake of century
They have been building custom robots to go in and search but they all die when they get in there. And yeah the subterranean ice wall still isn't finished and I'm not sure it will work anyway.

No, but it's an old thread, and finding the last old post before the necrobump in order to get caught up can be a chore.HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:You all do know that radiation is still leaking into the Pacific ocean 5 years on?

BTW, they have been finding increased levels of radiation in the fish caught off the shore of CA.

It is easier to start a fresh thread instead of wondering why an oldie has been dragged from the crypt
