saw a bit of the UK version of Retreat and said to myself, damn Zoe is hot, turns out it's not her but like a duplicate/twin. So i imdb'd Mission Impossible 2 cause i thought it was Zoe Saldana, nope, it's Thandie Newton, then i thought maybe twin sisters ? fuck me, i've been loving Zoe but looking at Thandie all this time, at least i know Zoe is in Avatar/Colombiana.

fuck you

It is a TV series - Last Tango in Halifax

Just finished season 3 here on free to air TV.
Rather good  and I am happy they have a season 4 in the making.

Clicky for IMDB pictures.

Mad Max - Err, I might be the only one that thought it was a bit simple. 6-10.

New terminator. Yawn-10.

Age of Ultron - OK, maybe it was over hyped for me. 7-10.

And a few others on a flight that i can't remember because the hostess got me drunk.

You cannot watch Fury Road on a small screen without proper sound. I first watched it in IMAX, which was fucking incredible. One of the greatest action films I've ever seen. The second and third time was on a 70" TV without surround sound. It was still really good, but you're really missing something without that good sound. The amazing sound and score of the film was half the fun...

Martian was OK. Book way, way better. Movie gave you no sense of how unendingly long Watney's time was on Mars. Also the entire third act of the film was too rushed. Needed to be a three hour epic like Interstellar.

Saw the original The Thing on 70mm at the cinema last night. The print had lost its blue hues a bit so it was all quite a lot more more pink than it should have been, but that aside the actual definition was absolutely great and the sound? holy fuck :!:

They don't make 'em like that anymore. What a film.

Maybe, the films definately more about the visuals than the dialogue. I thought Ultron was pretty average though and I'm usually quite kind to superhero movies, was a bit of a let down after Avengers and Guardians n all, even Winter Soldier. Jus surprising you would rate that higher than Fury Road

Tell Spring Not To Come This Year 8/10

Doc i found on Netflix that follows a company of heavy weapons dudes with the Afghan National Army after the Western troops left. So it's quite recent. Very interesting stuff, mostly because the unit is completely open with the documentary makers about everything, including making death threats to a national police unit they suspect of not taking their duties seriously. No media training i guess.

Aside from the war stuff it contains lots of shots from one of the most beautiful places on earth that almost made me want to go there - and quite a few conversations between people who never had an education about anything. It's like talking to children, very strange.

Unleashed

Written by Luc Besson, the screenwriter of Kiss of the Dragon, another Jet Li action, crime, drama film featuring Londoners.
The soundtrack is done by Massive Attack. Plenty of Jet Li's fighting skill on display and the music, story and directing are very good. At times the sense of tension in the air is palpable.
Emotional content is there. The final fight, the way the scene it's in is directed and the way it fits in the story is so badass; it's worth watching the film just for that

8/10

Dope (2015)

This movie was terrible. What the hell? Why did it get such good reviews? The plot was very uneven, dialogue was stale and overall the movie had no flow. I guess some supporting actors were alright, but the main guy wasn't believable at all.

I was tempted to stop watching it before the middle, but I thought that maybe it will redeem itself. Nope. Disappointed.

Paper Moon 9/10
Beautiful black & white cinematography. Great acting and chemistry between Ryan and Tatum O'Neal. Didn't know it was his real daughter in the beginning but could definitely tell after a while because it felt so real. Just a very pleasurable movie.

Beasts of No Nation 9/10

Straight to stream this one, which would suggest it shouldn't be much good perhaps. Fortunately it's actually damn good - the best war movie i've seen in at least a few years. Liked the acting, liked the plot, liked almost everything about it really. And some shots (there's one at the end for instance, where the main character slouches through a thrench system to get ammo for the machine gun, cigarette dangling from his lips, a helmet that's too big for his twelve year old head) are just superbly done and very memorable... excellent, excellent stuff.

Pretty much the only complaint i can think of is the at times ridiculous sounding African English, just use some native language or even French or whatever.

I am Number Four

This was on my to watch list.
You know I enjoy sci-fi but this one tested my faith. I was going to press the stop button but persisted to the end and it got marginally better in the last half; only just.

5/10 - Don't bother

Spectre 7/10

Decent enough, but underwhelming and predictable.
I'd not watched any Daniel Craig 007 movies, so Wednesday and yesterday I crammed in Casino, Quantum and Skyfall, and then went to see Spectre last night. I'm all Bonded out!

Mark Kermode raved over Spectre, which surprised me. then again, he said Skyfall was his joint favourite, so clearly a moron

I'm sure it was more impressive when it first came out. Was fun enough to watch.
