Wolfenstein series retrospect

Post by Eraser »

Someone posted that "In defense of Doom 3" here some time ago. The same guy did a retrospect on the entire Wolfenstein series. It's 1 hour and 14 minutes long :)

Cool, just finished watching it.

So I was at the bit about New Order and remembered I was going to check it out one day. Went to see what the current price was like on Steam and noticed it was already in my library - apparently I bought it June last year!

fucken steam sales... installing now.. :offended:

I don't play that many games but this video made me buy The New Order.
It blows my mind how good it is so far!

Yeah, New Order's a great game. Old Blood, not so much.

You lot probably already know this, but the guys responsible for New Order are also the guys who made Riddick: Butcher Bay and The Darkness. Makes sense, as it's solid shooting backed up with interesting talky bits and some better than average stealth.

Yeah I read that, it does feel a bit like Riddick. Played it back in the day but never finished it. Makes you sort of proud as a Swede, even though that's stupid heh, but it's nice to know they're doing well.

Playing it on hard, it felt a bit hard for me at times, but then I tried being more stealthy and it actually worked, and didn't feel tedious. It's nice to feel a bit on your toes rather than just plowing through.

I see, I will probably check out Old Blood anyway, but maybe won't finish it. I will definitely finish this one though.

I finished The Old Blood, but a lot of it felt like bullshit, rushed game design compared to New Order. There's a robot dog fight in particular that springs to mind, and the later zombie sections are appalling too.
