I am working my vote out by what the worst case scenario is on both sides. Then choosing the least shit option. Both have pros and cons.seremtan wrote:David Pigfucker CameronDon Carlos wrote:Celebrities? Those are high powered political lunatics, all of whom I wouldnt trust in the slightest.

In all honesty I don't know who I am voting for yet, but who ever I do vote for won't be based on the "fucking immigrants" or anything of that nature. It will be based on what I think will work best for me.

What exactly are the pro's when it comes to leaving the EU? The idea of a more autonomous government is a red herring and everyone knows that.
Re: Brexiting is closer than I thought it would be
lol @ people who want other people to do all the thinking and decision-making for them, then bitch and moan about what they think and the decisions they make
for consistency's sake, given how comfortable they are with decisions they can't change being made on their behalf, all the Remain camp should stay home on June 23

well one pro is that it might trigger the collapse of the EU, at which point we can build something better and more democraticEraser wrote:What exactly are the pro's when it comes to leaving the EU? The idea of a more autonomous government is a red herring and everyone knows that.
people who think the EU can be democratised from the inside are kidding themselves. it's designed to be anti-democratic at its heart, which is how the powers-that-be like it
Re: Brexiting is closer than I thought it would be
Sounds very naive to meseremtan wrote:well one pro is that it might trigger the collapse of the EU, at which point we can build something better and more democraticEraser wrote:What exactly are the pro's when it comes to leaving the EU? To be fair, the majority of people seem to be going with leave due to immigration policies and their belief that it harms the country, wether economically or socially. The referendum is happening because of public support - thanks to UKIP. The demographic of those wanting to leave seem to be the poorer in society too, those who would be most affected by immigration.seremtan wrote: is anyone even thinking for themselves?
I bet beyond Boris that most voting to leave aren't aware of the people who support their decision.

Tried that already, back in 06 right up until 09/10 ? (ID cards)
Didn't work. Everyone in true British fashion moaned like fuck.
We currently have VETO power too, so anything that our elected government doesn't agree with doesn't need to endorse. We also vote for our MEP ?, who then acts as our representative in like a Congress style set up. So... yea ?. The issue for me hasn't been about how democratic the EU is, to me it's no more or less than most other democratic governments, I just don't like the centralised power.
Infact I'm actually a little worried about what a Tory run Britain free from the EU can do. You can kiss goodbye to workers rights n shit.

compared to democratising it from the inside, like DiEM25 want to do? who's the naive one now?Eraser wrote:Sounds very naive to meseremtan wrote:well one pro is that it might trigger the collapse of the EU, at which point we can build something better and more democratic
Yanis Varoufakis is a smart guy but he's pissing in the wind. why does he think the same people who told Greek democracy to fuck off will magically turn on a dime a become born-again democrats?

So what ?, you're hoping that the EU falls and in its ashes it gets replaced by a government that is better because it isn't based on one of the many flawed political set ups we currently have ?

That sounds like what a bunch of Trump supporters are hoping for here across the pond.

Re: Brexiting is closer than I thought it would be
Also yes to Blue nose because he was bound by the EU and couldn't do stuff to the shit I was concerned about. I'd not vote for him in a million years without that protection

this is the problem, not a part of the solution
Re: Brexiting is closer than I thought it would be
So anarchy (or no EU) is the solution ?, what are you hoping to build that's better then ?, ideally speaking - what would you replace government with ?. Just go back to the EEC or someshit ? (which isn't a replacement btw it's a trade agreement
)
Why you going Geoff in your statements / answers ?

Well, the idea of the EU collapsing after a Brexit sounds like delusions of grandure to me.seremtan wrote:

But ok, suppose that happends, who would rebuild a european governing body and how would he/she/they make sure it wouldnt turn into EU 2.0?
I mean, I think the EU was set up with similar intentions as you are pursuing, but it ended up becoming what it is. It may sound apathic, but I fear that is the unavoidable fate of any similar construct.
