Starting research projects tomorrow...

Need a lot of suggestions for research paper topics to give the kids. I've got a number already, but post more here if you have them...

What are the ages?

How reasearch about spin off inventions and scientific discoveries as a result of investment in space programs and how it has affected everyday lives?

How about the effect of satellites on modern communication and entertainment. Discussing how integral they were in bringing about the information age?

Or a research project on famous theist scientists, their contributions to science, their reconciliation of science with their faiths. Utterly pointless, but it could help tnf's more religious students better accept scientific developments without believing they've committed heresy of some sort.

Quandary/Topic: Would these alien societies also believe in Jesus even if they never heard of the guy or his actions? Ask them how they can believe both concepts and have them justify their reasoning ;)
would his/her name be jesus/jesthem?

I'm sure any smart kid could wriggle out of your attempt at a quandary.
If there are a multitude of civilizations out there some may have been visited by a "Jesus" and some may not or some may be visited by others with stories of him.
But no matter what, if they have pondered their existance I'm sure some of them would create a God and Jesus idea and there would be some that believe it too.
Other scenarios could include that they have no need for the whole "the son of God needs to be sacrificed for the sins of the people" and only believe in a God creator.

Also don't forget the possibility that if there is a God he may have seeded the universe and let it evolve on its own with various lifeforms so he can be the ultimate "player" and visit them like they are a string of one night stands. Then he turns his attention to only a few while making them feel like they are the only ones like a player would do to keep the illusion up for his own pleasure.
Personally I like that one :icon34:
