Re: 4chan and /pol/ launch 'Operation Google'
lol, i knew it was only a matter of time before Memph brought up the the 'google' thing
to be honest, it's a clever idea. if only it was being used for something worthwhile instead of just allowing Drumpf-dick-puffing edgelords to say the word nigger online without consequences

How will this place get more traffic once Google blocks it?

Re: 4chan and /pol/ launch 'Operation Google'
Google is too innocent of a word, it makes most of the memes look adorable. Even the lynching ones seem like dark humor instead of racism. Plus, you have to explain that google is a swear every time you do it or people will just be confused.
Fun idea tho.

Google is a corporation, not the provider of a digital public square. this means it puts the interests of its shareholders first, and is under no obligation to favour free speech if it conflicts with those interests. unfortunately, because it also has dominant market share, it can change its rules whenever it likes and there's fuck-all anyone can do about it. same goes for twitter, facebook etc
vimeo anyone?

Re: 4chan and /pol/ launch 'Operation Google'
Yeah, I don't get it, people wanna get paid for making vapid internet videos but they don't know where the money comes from.
Like they even matter. For every person that makes a living off of youtube content there's probably at least 10 more who would do the same shit for free.

Re: 4chan and /pol/ launch 'Operation Google'
Google itself is a search-engine. Guess you are talking about "Alphabet"? Youtube is a "provider of a digital public square" by the very definition. Sure, it's their servers. They can do whatever they want with the content, censor it in whatever ways they feel is right. As a creator, you signed in on those terms of service.seremtan wrote:Google is a corporation, not the provider of a digital public square.
Re: 4chan and /pol/ launch 'Operation Google'
well, yesFerrao10 wrote:Guess you are talking about "Alphabet"?
no it isn't. youtube isn't public property like a park or street or any kind of common land. it's a privately-owned spaceYoutube is a "provider of a digital public square"
public has meanings other than 'visible to other people'
Re: 4chan and /pol/ launch 'Operation Google'
How much money do you think it costs to run youtube? I highly doubt they're making anything close to it back.
If you want a digital public space, make one. Good luck funding that stupid bullshit with happy thoughts and unicorn horns.

Well, true that. You are right. They are the provider. They can do whatever they want with the content, TOS.seremtan wrote:no it isn't. youtube isn't public property like a park or street or any kind of common land. it's a privately-owned space

@DooMer: Youtube is a llc in Delaware...
Numbers for second fiscal period 2016 of Alphabet, Inc. Taken from https://abc.xyz/investor/.
Yes, it is the Mother's report, not that of youtube itself. But do you really think they don't make a plus?
Re: 4chan and /pol/ launch 'Operation Google'
i think the red mist has affected your ability to read, Mr Cato. i was pointing out hard facts about youtube, not advocating communismDooMer wrote:If you want a digital public space, make one. Good luck funding that stupid bullshit with happy thoughts and unicorn horns.
you probably could fund something with unicorns though, once you've genetically modified horses with narwhal DNA then put them somewhere where people have to pay to see them

I wasn't talking to you, I don't usually use quotes cuz I don't feel like loading a new page.
