Laptop

Post by Doombrain »

I'm going to buy a Lenovo Yoga 910 i7 7gen.

Is there any other 2in1 i should be looking at (apart from the HP), any other laptop for the £1300 price range? I'm not fussed about playing games, i need something thin and light for working & adobe.

Reading reviews the screen is not very good, so i'm now looking at this. Buying windows laptops is hard.

If battery life is a consideration for you, I wouldn't get one with a dedicated GPU.

why? the OS doesn't even use the dedicated gpu unless a specific program needs it.

I want to run some games for when i'm away, or working in my home office (when i should be working). I'm now leaning back to the Asus.

Basically 4k with GF9 or 1080 GTX1050

I can thoroughly recommend the MSI - if you're after a gaming laptop it does the business. I got mine for the 17" screen (home office/gaming) BUT it is quite heavy if you're regularly transporting, and most regular laptop baggies might not enjoy the size! I managed to get a nice sturdy case logic backpack, it does the job but isn't stylish :)

What's the GF9x like with gaming? Not bothered about ultra settings, but would like a 4K screen.

Correct, but unless you completely disable it in the BIOS, it is still drawing power. I have two Thinkpad T420, one with Nvidia GPU and one without. Idle battery on the Non-dedicated GPU is ~19 hours, while its only around 13 on the Nvidia (enabled in BIOS, set to use dedicated only when needed in control panel, like you described). Mabye newer laptops it's different, but that's my experience. (I used the same battery for testing both)
