What is new in your little world?
Re: What is new in your little world?
Couple more photos:
View from the top. The ledge I'm standing on is pretty damn narrow, about 2 feet wide.

Then the storm started rolling in so we got the hell out.

Good call getting out. We've had some wild flash storms in Maryland the last few weeks. It's party sunny all day, every day, but once in a while the sky just goes dark and there's intense rain (two day ago with hail) for up to a half-hour. Then sunny the rest of the evening.obsidian wrote:Then the storm started rolling in so we got the hell out.

Yeah I ran into one of those storms on Saturday. Nice sunny/cloudy day then bam, torrential rainfall like I've never seen before combined with hail and lightning.

Re: What is new in your little world?
A friend was selling his slightly used 1080ti for $300.00 and I couldn't resist. Even though I was planning a 2080ti rig in a few months. Well I got the car installed only to discover that the 1080's no longer support analog signals, rendering my current (1080p TV/monitor) connection method obsolete. So I hooked it up with an HDMI cable and couldn't have been more disappointed with the image. Everything looks like it's over digitized. Since I already planned to pick up a new monitor with the purchase of the new PC, I popped on this one a little early.

Staring down another CAT 3 or 4 hurricane. The cost of living in South Florida. But we're ready. :owned:

Sometimes it rains a little bit, and then it stops. Should I be worried?

Yesterday after having cleaned (tooth-brushed and immersed some of the vintage (white/grey) in hydrogen peroxide for time) I've re assembled the classic Lego Technic 'Test Car', the set # 8865

Bought back many happy memories from 30 years ago :tear:

Put your old card in an oven after you strip everything off it at 275 degrees for about 10 minutes. It'll reconnect any soldering points that are getting worn out. Just prop it up on some aluminium balls on non sensitive contact points first. PS: it's going to smell really bad.

Why?
Its a 1500$ video card under warranty. I'll just take a free new one. Which was overnighted and is here now.
Re: What is new in your little world?
Oh I thought you were buying a new one. I generally try a last ditch effort to repair something before throwing it out.

Re: What is new in your little world?
I got my hands on one of these the other day, a Swedish Ericsson Ericofon.
Having worked in the Telecom industry for 20+ years, I have always been after one icon of the early days. Luckily I've stayed in contact with a few workmates, one in a collectors group. Thanks Denys

The Ericofon is a one-piece plastic telephone created by the Ericsson Company of Sweden and marketed through the second half of the 20th century. It was the first commercially marketed telephone to incorporate the dial and handset into a single unit. Because of its styling and its influence on future telephone design, the Ericofon is considered one of the most significant industrial designs of the 20th century by Phaidon. It is in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. In Sweden, the Ericofon is known as the cobra telephone for its resemblance to a coiled snake.
