Went climbing again in Nevada/Utah (hopefully the photos load):

Red Rock, Nevada. About 40min outside of Las Vegas.

Our 4-party team split into two groups of two climbed "Frogland", a 6-pitch route above Calico Basin. I think this was taken while I was climbing on pitch 4. You can see the road in and somewhere down there, our car (midway down, about 1/3 from the left).

Pitch 5 required squeezing through the small triangular gap between a chimney and a fallen boulder that had lodged itself in our path. I'm waiting below for him to make the squeeze while his partner belays him from above. Kind of a weird perspective, but he's basically climbing horizontally, pushing his feet against the side of the chimney and his shoulders wedged into the gap.

The lights of Vegas. The Luxor beam is pretty faint in this photo, but it's about 1/4 from the left. We eventually topped out in the dark past sunset and had a 2-hour slog via headlamp though a thorny plant infested gully for the descent. We wouldn't finish dinner until midnight.

Some random route my friend climbed on during one of the warmer days. Nevada in November was warm in the sun but freezing as soon as you enter the shade or when the sun dips below the horizon.

Picked up a Sony a7 III full-frame mirrorless camera with an FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS lens. I'm also considering my ultra-wide options: the Vario-Tessar 16-35mm f/4 or the 12-24mm f/4.

I've been shopping for my Christmas present :D so more later, when it arrives.
I picked up my Christmas present at 30% off retail  and just before a 4 day road trip 4 hours north. Nice to get away.

The Lego was snot the new 42100 LEGO TECHNIC Liebherr R 9800 Excavator I mentioned earlier but the 42099 LEGO® TECHNIC 4X4 X-treme Off-Roader only because I read of the advanced Smart Hub with 3 motors, controlled via the new LEGO TECHNIC CONTROL+ app... Sounds a challenge..

I am still considering the Liebherr so maybe for my birthday :p

Went north to see an old workmate and his Wife who moved in to a new house as they needed decorating and tech help. I am always happy to lend a hand to mates :D

So I'm at a friends apartment last Friday and we're playing some old school split screen halo. We stop for a smoke break and while we're conversing we put some youtube video's on his second flat screen. They're trying to look up this song using the remote and it's just awful, it doesn't work great with youtube. This friend of mine also happens to be the landlord of this building and I often go to his place to hang out and so I have my phone connected to his wifi. So I just use my phone often to cast to his TV, casting, for those who don't know is when you connect your phone to a device on the same network. It makes it easy to browse and use youtube for example. My friends, who are not tech savy see this as me hacking their devices and they think it's great. So I decide, seeing them struggling with the tv remote that I'll just cast to that flat screen and save them some time. I'm trying to put a song on and attempting to connect but I can't seem to. I keep at it though, trying a few more times and on the 5th try I finally give up. About 10 minutes later, the landlord gets a text from one of his tennants. It reads "Hey man, I'm trying to get my groove on with this date I brought over to my house but my tv keeps playing a heavy metal rendition of the cantina song from star wars, it's really killing the mood, would you know anything about this? Apparently I'd been casting to the worng screen...

This story would've been so much spicier if you'd been trying to cast hardcore pornography to your friend's television.

Mention of friends who are not tech savy.... my old workmate and his Wife mentioned above, while visiting they asked I connect their printer and had no idea it could be done via a wireless connection, they didn't know how to connect their brand new laptop to the charger. Best of all, they didn't know the mouse was wireless and that the USB wireless receiver was inside the mouse and needed to be plugged in to the laptop to work. Just before leaving they asked I connect their DVD player to their TV. I was to say the least surprised at the lack of 'tech' skill :smirk:

Κracus wrote:So I'm at a friends apartment last Friday and we're playing some old school split screen halo.

It looks just like your old bike with boxes on the back.

Re: What is new in your little world?

Yesterday I completed the build of my new Lego® Technic Off-Roader. Funny thing, the build went fine then I fired up the smartphone app OK but seemingly couldn't 'open' it. I eventually worked out I just needed to touch the screen :smirk: So it was challenge of sorts.
