Re corona virus, here the government is partially lifting some restrictions  We will be able to travel some 50 kilometers from home and perhaps have a picnic :!: and non essential shop.

Fetching essential groceries today, some shops, jewelers and kitchenware had signs out saying they were opening Saturday

Watch this space....

We haven't had any new cases of Corona in 10 days now in our province. Pretty happy no one wants to live here these days.

Still fairly locked down where I'm at, but I've noticed traffic is starting to increase a bit. There was a solid 3 or 4 weeks there where the streets were like fuckin' ghost towns. Kinda nice. Driving to work at 145km/h every day is fun :olo:

Eh... 145 isn't really that crazy if you're on a highway. 270 tho...

I'd argue that if you lose control at 145 you were probably going to crash at any speed.

I'm sure those wild turkeys or deer are just as confident in your ability to maintain control, too.

Bro the deer around here are evolving. My neighborhood is absolutely swamped with deer, you cannot drive down my street without encountering deer, I'll generally spot 6 or 7 in the 2km road that leads to my house it's ridiculous. That said, one day I was driving and saw deer dashing towards the road at a full sprint and I could tell we were going to meet up in the middle of the road so I slowed down to let them cross... Well call me fucking surprised when I saw the deer also stop when it saw me coming. It stayed on the sidewalk until I drove by too. I couldn't fucking believe it.

The highways around here however have fencing along most highways. There's rarely deer or moose on the roads and I wouldn't be doing 140 in a residential area so...

All the more reason not to drive irresponsibly. If you know the fences are going to stop deer from getting on the road, and then there happens to be a busted section and deer get out there anyway, you're less likely to be vigilant. Relying on smart deer to prevent an accident has got to be the stupidest thing I've heard, so much so that I assume you're trolling.

lol 145 really is nothing even on a bike, everyone does that here on major highways when conditions are good and traffic is flowing. Just use Waze to watch for the speed trap cruisers and you're good.

Depends if you're talking kmh or mph. In mph, 145 is awfully fast.

he's clearly talking kmh, judging from the post he's quoting a few inches above the one you just made :alert:

Just because everyone else does it doesn't make it safe. I mean seriously? That's some middle school logic on display right there. At 145kph, if someone ahead of you crashes or stops abruptly (or a deer jumps into the road), you will travel at least 25 meters before you can even start to brake. Then it takes another 125 meters to come to a full stop. Unless you're keeping a football field and a half between you and the driver ahead, you're taking a huge risk at that speed.

But by all means, risk your life. I'm sure the nurses and doctors will appreciate your cavalier attitude as they fix your degloved hand or leg.

To be honest, until recently, max top speed on highways was 130km/h in the Netherlands. 145km/h isn't that much faster. Not saying doing 145km/h is just carte blanche okay, but it's not like it's the most reckless thing ever. Also depends on the actual speed limit of the road you're on. Absolute speed isn't the biggest problem, speed differences between vehicles more so.

I don't know what bikes you've been riding, but I can stop mine at that speed in way less than 125 meters. 145kph/90 mph is not that fast. In congested traffic it would be foolish of course.
