President Biden
Re: President Biden
I'm not American so I don't really care but having someone in charge that isn't lying to your face every day will be nice.YourGrandpa wrote:Now that Biden is going to be the next President, what are you looking forward to over the next 4 years?
Please respond with expected policy or political development from the new administration.
Re: President Biden
What's nice is that the US won't be the laughing stock of the western world anymore.
More seriously though, I hope Biden will sign back up into the Paris agreements.

He's already said he's going to ASAP.

there, happy now?

Notice how he didn’t admit he won the election, he just said now he’s going to be president. Guarantee you he won’t admit he won...Doombrain wrote:"Now that..." :olo:

Has he said anything about cancelling Trump's plans to stop funding the WHO as well?
edit: looks like he did (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-53332354)
See? Already two points ahead of Trump.
Re: President Biden
Uhh speak for yourself. Millions of Americans don't even have access to clean drinking water, others work 3 jobs and still need food stamps to survive. Obesity, illiteracy, infant death rates, and military spending keep ramping up, as do the number of bombs dropped on other countries. And this was all happening during Barack "Hope and Change" Obama's presidency. It's a failed state.Eraser wrote:What's nice is that the US won't be the laughing stock of the western world anymore.
Re: President Biden
Actually yes. We will be a part of WHO again...

I don't believe in all of history preceding Trump has a US president been literally laughed at (not with, at) at a UN general assembly.
Re: President Biden
Oh ok, if that's all you're worried about then it's all good. America is back!

Think they plan on putting a fuckin 'task force' together to undo all the retarded shit he did. You couldn't write it.Eraser wrote:Oh that's good.Doombrain wrote:He's already said he's going to ASAP.

Despite the Dems and Repubs being 2 sides of the same coin there will be some key differences.YourGrandpa wrote:Now that Biden is going to be the next President, what are you looking forward to over the next 4 years?
Please respond with expected policy or political development from the new administration.
Environmental and energy policy will be much better (but probably nowhere near where I'd like it to be).
Immigration policy will be better. Social policy in general will be better.
Less incitement of division among the U.S. populace.
Less erosion of democratic norms.
No or little obfuscation of the science re: covid
Now a question for you gwamps. How was Trump substantially different than the career politicians you rail against? Specifically please. He spent the whole 4 years trying to enrich himself and his buddies, he stacked courts and agencies with political appointees. I think it's safe to safe he's a politician now and he's as big a corrupt political hack as any who came before him.

Under Obama they did nothing for immigration reform. In fact, they deported more immigrants than any other president in history, and built the cages on the boarder. How could anyone forget that BLM and Antifa were formed during the Obama administration.
No division? The media is stoking that fire at the direction of government. Even a retard knows the majority of Americans aren't pleased with today's politicians. The only way to avoid a revolution is to keep feeding the divide. Their moto is "Distract the masses and they'll leave us alone"... That isn't going to stop under Biden.
Please expound on these "democratic norms".
Science in regards to what, Covid? Both sides have always selectively followed the science they agree with.
Trump was by no means something to brag about. But his fiscal policies were pro American. He lowered taxes. He got us out of NAFTA. He didn't start any new wars. He facilitated 4 historic peace deals. Before Covid, America had the lowest unemployment rate and a thriving stock market. He has also tried to remove troops from the middle east.
Biden is a corporate war hawk. He's going to raise taxes, double the minimum wage and incentivize manufacturing in foreign countries. Effectively exporting our manufacturing back to China, closing more American factories and raising unemployment. He is also lining his cabinet with war mongers who have a vested interest in starting more wars. So you can guarantee the military industrial complex will get there chance to raid our federal taxes dollars and a few more countries. He is also a proponent of lock-downs, which aren't supported by science. If he's able to mandate a federal lock-down, he'll put the final nail in the coffin of small business. This will drive millions into property, make millions more homeless and permanently end most locally owned and operated companies as companies like Amazon and Walmart continue to operate distribution centers with thousands of people.
Thinking for a millisecond that you're getting something better with Biden is insane.

But don't worry, YOU will hear very little about it because main stream media will suppress most of the information. Any legitimate reporting will come from freelance journalists that you'll call conspiracy theorists or simply brush off as illegitimate people of bias.

CorrectBiden is a corporate war hawk.
Not correct. Even the Swedes, who didn't have lockdowns, admit they fucked up and had a worse outcome in public health terms than they would have had with lockdownsHe is also a proponent of lock-downs, which aren't supported by science.
i think the point you're trying to make here is that Bezos has made out like a bandit from the pandemic, which is true, but creating policy around avoiding that wouldn't have made any sense. also, other businesses, such as utilities and grocery stores, have sailed through this. how a business copes with a pandemic all depends on what they're selling and how they're selling it. final point: if you want to live in free market society, you have to accept the consequences of that, among which is the fact that if circumstances abruptly change, some businesses will fail - kind of like how some species die out when the environment changes too quick for them to adapt. you can avoid all this with socialism, of course, but that's socialism lmaoThis will drive millions into [poverty], make millions more homeless and permanently end most locally owned and operated companies as companies like Amazon and Walmart continue to operate distribution centers with thousands of people.

Re: President Biden
I was not suggesting large corporation be shut down. I was making two points. (1) large corporation have somehow managed to stay open during a pandemic without causing wide spread infection while providing the exact same good and services that smaller business are being forbidden to provide. (2) small business closure not only causes mass unemployment and everything that comes with it, it also removes (in lots of cases permanently) competition for the big box stores. And if you think these forced closures aren't causing an abnormal demise of small business, you're crazy.seremtan wrote:Sorry... No one really heard anything about Antfia until the Obama Administration. But feel free to ignore the BLM mention. In 2019 the CDC's web site even said lockdowns were not the correct way to deal with a wide spread virus. There have also been multiple studies since that agree. Not correct.
