I've loved this scene ever since i first saw the film on VHS recorded off the telly back in the 90s.
Even as a kid I thought everything about it was great, like the knight's interactions and glances at IJ, where you can see he's like WTF is going on.. but you can tell he still knows whats up, to being straight up savage with that line at the end :tomato:
The lighting and sound cues, acting totally on point, epic bad-guy death scene, casual 700yr old dude, the coldblooded double-cross, donovan's few seconds of immortal smugness before he realised he done fucked up!

brilliant

More of a TIL than just a dump:

She is the granddaughter of Amon Göth, back then Kommandant of the KZ that Oskar Schindler had his jews hired from.

Doc about her mother Monika Hertwig, daughter of Amon:

It's cringey in parts. You might want to keep in mind that she had a tough life, german Wiki.

I think this is a fascinating family-history.
And it is very true what Jennifer says in the second video: We have a very strong rememberance-culture in Germany. But it is only told in theory at schools. What happened politically in the years before 1933, what happened during 1933, what happened between 1933 and 1939. And then the war itself but predominantely focused on the "Endlösung". Just numbers and facts, a lot of them. I think we should learn this, don't get me wrong. But there is very little taught besides it.

But within the families we do not talk about the past. We never did, even while the generation was stil alive.

 Really neat video. I want him to do mine. BTW, I used to do near similar years ago, even applying boot/shoe polish to the rubber :smirk:
I need to buy that roller trolley he's doing it job on and I have to ask, why does he do this within his apparent internal garage area?

The Big Misconception About Electricity
Now this is a great explanation and might prove mind bending for some. I need watch again.

Electric and magnetic fields and not electrons transfer the energy to light a bulb in a simple closed electrical circuit.

Skip to 11.45 for the answer. Did you get it correct as I did I wonder :D

I wonder, did I ever tell Q3W of my electrocution story from 1982 where accidentally I held on to 240V AC for what seemed to be a minute because of a 'dead man's lead' and survived? Another day perhaps..

Edit: Seems I did.

OT and as you know, one video leads ( :smirk: ) to another.

This episode and the concept of Dyson spheres was incredibly thought provoking. Love it a lot, and it probably preceded my readings of Larry Niven's Ringworld, which is a more toned down version of a Dyson Sphere, but still crazy looking at how much material is needed to build such a large structure with such tensile strengths.

I skipped the GeForce (had a Diamond Viper II z200 with S3 Savage 2000 GPU) but I did get a GeForce 2 after that one and it was glorious. I also remember having a 3dfx Voodoo 2 before that, with the weird external cable going from the Voodoo 2 to the (2D) graphics card.

I had a Voodoo 2, Voodoo 2000 AGP and then I was stuck with that until GeForce 3 (I think...)
