I didn't know much of him at all. I recall the major parts he played in A.I. Artificial Intelligence & Lost in Space and smaller roles in others like Humans, The Village & Changing Lanes.

I better search for 1984 then :) but 1984 was John Hurt.

Due to their shared surnames, some fans have connected William Hurt with actor John Hurt, who died in 2017. However, the two stars were unrelated.
